AND YEAH! That can be done, by bringing back the BEAUTIFUL reverse of the the 1932-1998 quarter back! These territories are junk, and nothing more. My point is, THERE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANOTHER "PROGRAM" of any kind. We should have brought back the original reverse.
You are so right. I used to collect football and baseball cards, and now guess what, I can't sell them for $20 less than what they are worth! Too much crap! Beanie Babies, I have about a hundred...Don't collect em' anymore, because they commemorate something, every year, and they should have stopped in like 04' they will probably commemorate Obama next. Stamps, I have a small collection of stamps, and can't tell what from what and which from which, makes me so angry. And quarters....I'm just done with them
Don't hold anything back, just go ahead and tell me a coin I like and want to collect is junk. Whatever you may collect I may not like at all, but I would never refer to the coins you like as junk.
I'm just bashing the coin, not the person...Part of the cointalk rules I'm not holding back either. You can go ahead take a shot @ me I collect 1.Wheats 2.Morgans NGC MS63 (For commons) 3.Quarter Eagles (Indian Type) 4.Liberty Nickels 5.Barber Quarters 6. Merc Dimes 7.Roosevelt Dimes Go ahead, no holding back
So.... now the next way to make your million is by collecting coins? Good luck, sir. It is a fool's errand. Most of the comments in this thread deal with "value" rather than collecting pleasure. If there is a larger variety of things to chose from, why would a COLLECTOR complain. Buy what you like, leave what you don't. I collect baseball cards because I love the game. I have cards of my childhood heros such as Cesar Tovar, Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva, etc. The cards will never be worth much, but every once in awhile I pull them out and take a trip back to my childhood. As an investor, all these new problems must be bothering people. It's getting more and more expense to get 10 rolls of everything that comes out. And then it's all watered down and much will probably go down in value instead of up. Oh, the dilemma.
Well, I like Harmon Killebrew...Have his autogrpah, and tones of his cards I collect what I like, and I'm making coins, not only a hobby, but an investment, and I love the thrill. I don't expect to make a million of it. My collection is worth around $2000.
I'm awaiting a shot to be taken... I collect 1.Wheats 2.Morgans NGC MS63 (For commons) 3.Quarter Eagles (Indian Type) 4.Liberty Nickels 5.Barber Quarters 6. Merc Dimes 7.Roosevelt Dimes
Which look like Barber Dimes which look like Barber Halves. He must have designed his 1892 coins after viewing a Liberty Head nickel in a mirror.
I voted yes But doubt the Mint is actually listening to me... But I also have a complete set of 'em and just added the Territories page to the back of the album... And I still like going through and looking at them...
What's done is done. State Quarters are finished. Territory Quarters are running now. The National Parks Program begins in 2010 so a better question to ask might be "After the National Park Quarter Program ends do you favor a return to the 1932-1998 Washington Quarter design?"
The National Park program has no end. We can expect 4 new quarters per year for the next 10 years at least and then it will be extended and extended. It's great to get 4 fresh new designs every year. None of these will ever be valuable but they are fun to collect. It doesn't always have to be about value? I hope we never return to the old quarter reverse.
Nope never about value... For me...All about what I like to collect...Value is extra. But, it is always new new new! If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Will it be worth the hassle to even collect the national parks? I'll probably end up getting the 09', in BU. I just find it ridiculous that we have to keep having a new reverse
Isn't it kind of a moot point now? The legislation already passed, and they are going to be minted. (DC already has been, and all the others have already been minted in proof). So regardless of wha anyone thinks about whether or not they should have been... they're going to be minted. I think it was a stupid idea personally but what difference does it make now? You don't like them, nobody's holding a gun to your head forcing you to collect them. If the Mint makes junk I don't want, I just don't buy it, problem solved.
