Hey..I'm new here so forgive me for asking if it has already been posted and/or answered. Why the delay in the new Lincoln one-cent coins? I thought they were supposed to be released on February 12th, 2009?
The search function is your friend. There are about 70 thread on the 2009 lincoln cent. PS ...If you want to make friends around these parts ...dont call them pennies ..they are cents. I know ..but these folks are sticklers.
LOL! Come to Texas, I got 4 rolls from the bank, one roll from our cashier at work and I found one in circulation last week!
I bet the weather is better in Texas too! Second day of spring and I wake up to snow. For now I'll be patient on the Lincolns...at least my silver Lincoln commem finally arrived.
HI, does anyone know of the 2009 VDB cent? Are they all bearing the initials or a sellect few? I cant seem to find anything on them. Please let me know, thank you..E
Delay........................................ ....hi coinman09! here's one reason for the lincoln cent delay. http://coins.about.com/b/2009/02/05/new-penny-circulation-will-be-delayed.htm?nl=1
I love that term "currency backwash"... more coins going back to the Federal Reserve Bank than going out, creating a huge surplus. People cashing out all those old Lincolns they've been hoarding for years. Anyone know how many you can get in a five gallon water jug? I have one almost full!
Hay Coinman Welcome to the Forum! The cents were released on the 12th or around that time, but with all the hoarding it will take even longer to make into circulation. Some banks have not even order them.
Just lay off the ebay for a while, you'll find every cent since 1918 has a VDB on it. If you want, I'll go out to the garage and make you a couple without the VDB. If not, someone on ebay will scoop them up.
Delayed isn't quite the word I was thinking of. My order from the Mint was backordered...for the fourth time since I bought them the day they went on sale. I could have driven there, minted my own rolls, and driven back a dozen times by now. Incompetency was the word I'd use. Guy~
well my friend the mint sucks...lol I dislike the mint, and they are slow to tell their customers things These were not distributed well, but now, the mint is selling them, so as long as people don't hoard, and just cherry pick, and throw the bad ones out, they should be in circulation soon.
in my part of wv . most of the banks claim that they aren'teven allowed to order them or that they may get 1 case. it is the same for the 2009 quarters. has any one firured out how many us lincoln coins will be out p,d,s
The Mint is actually pretty good, especially since it is not a business. Other world mints are far worse. Ruben
