I was checking with the real one and the way "1921" is inscribed is totally incorrect on this coin . Can anyone please tesify this and also how / from where do they make these ridiculous fakes ? It looks real except for the 1921 thingy and looks extra fine as well !

I'm a newbie too. I collect mostly Peace Dollars, and a few Morgans. What are you collecting?

But the bid is at 99 cents! LOL

I'd msg the guy & say hay it's a Morgan not a peace dollar. But I don't have an ebay account. LOL

fake or not it is an unattractive common date coin. Your best advice if you are starting out is to buy the best example coin you can afford. If I would have done that when I was younger instead of just trying to fill a hole I would have saved literally thousands. You don't know how many times I have rebuilt my merc set or my IHC set because when I really looked at it I wasn't happy with the grades I had bought. Good luck to you.

It does have that AT appearance of a Chinese forgery (I checked the "J-man's" listings... almost dead on).... these 21's were so common that a nice MS-60 or so should sell for under $20. This example is melt only.

    Silver is at $13.73.

21 morgans in VF retail for $18 - $20. So Your look at paying more for Unc. The Unc ones go for about $30.

FYI prices on Morgans change far more frequently.

If that coin is real it appears to have been cleaned. You can see the scratch lines on the chin and by the nose that all go in the same direction.

A coin like that may be beautiful but it will never go up in value more than the price of silver because of the high mintage and also it was cleaned.

I'd be careful buying any silver dollar on ebay. I bought a couple in the past (before I became educated on detecting cleaned coins). Most of what I purchased was cleaned and not by a professional. The extra money you pay from a reputable dealer is well worth it, TRUST ME!

I can buy '21 Morgans all day long in MS-60 for $18-$20; same for '22 Peace dollars (bought a MS-63 today for $18 to fill a spot in another type set). Now if you want to buy one from those radio and TV ads... well, then you can pay $30. By the way, this was from my local dealer, not from eBay (so no shipping cost).

    I don't think those are scratches I think that's the plastic from the 2 x 2.

coin is kinda ugly really....not fake, but IDK...anytime someone asks, I have to stop and think... And it is a morgan, but, that was already pointed out

Yes, with the amount of luster showing, it would seem to be an EF.

The scratches mentioned appear to be on the mylar in the 2x2 covering the coin's obverse.

There is no return policy, but if you can buy it below melt, you may want to take a chance. Seller has perfect feedback.

Positive: In addition to some remaining luster, Liberty's hairline is impressive. Overall, there appear to be few other marks and the cheek may prove quite nice. Color is good. Wear appears even and coin seems very natural. It is genuine. ; )

Negative: There appears to be one nasty bagmark in the field ahead of Liberty's nose/eye. Also, I suspect you may find some crud in the lettering, mainly on the obverse.

The main drawbacks I see are lack of a return policy and that the coin is quite common, even in EF. If you had a common coin in AU or UNC condition, I think it would be better in the long run. It will be understandable to all that you won't have AU's or UNC's in rare dates or varieties. Almost nobody does. : )
