Hello im new to coin collecting so please bear with me. I have a 1953 d wheat penny and i believe that it has a rpm d over s. Can someone take a look and let me know if in fact that is what it is and how much its worth thank you in advance!
There's 29 RPMs on varietyvista.com: http://www.varietyvista.com/02a LC RPMs Vol 1/RPMs 1953D.htm That's too many for me to check. It will be easier for you as you have the coin in hand to compare die markers.
it's a D/D. to the right is some sort of damage or staining, but the seriff on the D on the left side is too long to not be a D/D. RPM-001 is the only one that I am aware of that's so far over and directly under the 5, most of them are between the 9 and the 5. the link thomas mozzillo posted earlier to variety vista should get you there, it's worn, but maybe you can determine die stage by the mint mark.
Wow this is great!!!! I'm like a kid on Christmas morning thank you everyone for your help i greatly appreciate it!!
The 1953-Ds have probably the most, from what I recall, and the 1957-Ds have quite a lot, too. Definitely look over all yours. I'll even say the 1950s are probably the best decade for these, and if that's proven wrong, it's not going to be by much.
