A teller from my bank called today to tell me she had $430 in half dollars somebody turned in. I figured it was a coin dump but told her I would take them. To my shock , 34 rolls worth were 40 percenters! Separated by year.... the cool thing is she has another bag of $1000 dollars worth from the same person, with many 60's coins visible, so I’m going back to get those first thing in the morning. I’m in shock. This is my biggest find ever. I have no idea how to figure the value. So far I have only separated them by year, still have to look for varieties and errors. Any tips on what I should be looking for would be helpful!!! 3 rolls of 65’s 2 plus rolls of 66’s 9 plus rolls of 67’s 10 plus rolls of 68’s 7 plus rolls of 69’s
I do for a general answer . Look for anything that looks odd . Check your references Wexler's , Variety Vista etc.. Stay AWAY from the microscope until you find something . God bless all. It's a New Day !!
I bet it's someone's Mortgage money . So sad that we have to sell our coins out of hardship . Been there , still am.
If my math is correct, you have at least 31 rolls of 40% percent silver half-dollars, which would be worth almost $2,400. That's not even accounting for the partial rolls you have @Beardigger. http://coinapps.com/silver/half-dollar/40/calculator/
Wow! It could easily just have been someone's inheritance and they saw nothing special in those rolls not being a collector. Happens more than you'd think.
You got a monster! With tellers like that who needs to buy anything? Pizzas are on you the next time you’re in there...
Ohhhhh.......she'll get coffee and a dozen doughnuts! and anything else cool i can think of! The other teller there has a bunch of sacajaweas and susan B's she wondered if I would like to buy! I'm mulling it over. It may be all from the same dumper!
This must be a laid back Bank, no. Mine has the evil eyes on you as soon as you enter the door . Maybe they shouldn't of built it in the bad section of town . Cool story though . There use to be an Old house there before .... ahh , another time maybe .
I've been banking there almost more then 30years. They know me well, and since I started coin hunting....they get a dozen doughnuts several times a year. Good relations go a long way.
They have people that have worked at your bank for 30 years ? Blessed their hearts . Managers maybe , not tellers, right ?
I didn't read him say that they've had people work there for 30 years (although that's entirely possible). He said he's banked there for 30 years. I'm very sure he's seen many dozens of employees come and go. Developing relationships in that span of time overlaps many tellers and managers.
Must be a friendly town . Their too rush rush here where I live . It use to be like that here . I'm just saying.
When I was a teenager the bank let me sit in the vault and roll coins for them. Those days are long gone.
Congrats man! Like I said last night, this is a score of a lifetime! Looking forward to seeing what the bag brings you today!
The powerball was won lastnight about 30 miles north of me. I got zero numbers on my one ticket. Megamillions is today. I think @Beardigger is a good candidate to win that with his recent streak of luck!
Just got the 1000 dollar bag. A test handful iS incredible! Only 5 non silvers. This shows just a handful from the bag. This is gonna be SWEET!
