You can't argue with the original packaging that's on them. Got all 3 at the same time and for a buck each. IMG_4854.JPG IMG_4855.JPG IMG_4856.JPG

Were these really put inside cereal boxes? That's pretty cool.

yup the ones in the original packaging are going for a premium these days because so many people just took em out and spent them there history now specifically coin history.

Is there anything to distinguish a Cheerios cent out of the package?

Yes, it was a promotion for General Mills. It was hard to find a box of Cherrios on the shelf at the time.

If you take it out of the package, it's nothing. (1 cent)
I had one of these for years. (GF ate the cereal). But when I finally fished it out
the coin pack was empty. I must have given up and cracked it out.

But if you let a TPG take it out you can point at the label, and it's worth more than 1 cent.

By the time I get a chance to find mine in the whole basement, the bubble will burst and people will realize that it's just one cent . :jawdrop:

I don't remember how much my box of cereal cost me but I'm sure it was more than a buck when I got mine. But I also got the cereal.

Does anyone know when these became so popular and do you think the " Bubble will burst" and they will be worth only a Cent ? :bookworm:

Not with the Cents. Once you remove it from the packaging it's just a one cent coin. If a TPG removes it you can refer to the label on the slab.

The bubble may never burst. P. T. Barnum was known for the phrase "There's a sucker born every minute"
