yup the ones in the original packaging are going for a premium these days because so many people just took em out and spent them there history now specifically coin history.

Is there anything to distinguish a Cheerios cent out of the package?

 

Yes, it was a promotion for General Mills. It was hard to find a box of Cherrios on the shelf at the time.

If you take it out of the package, it's nothing. (1 cent)
I had one of these for years. (GF ate the cereal). But when I finally fished it out
the coin pack was empty. I must have given up and cracked it out.

 

There may be a chance I still have mine in the basement . Anyone want to help find it ? Like a treasure hunt .

But if you let a TPG take it out you can point at the label, and it's worth more than 1 cent.

 

By the time I get a chance to find mine in the whole basement, the bubble will burst and people will realize that it's just one cent .

I don't remember how much my box of cereal cost me but I'm sure it was more than a buck when I got mine. But I also got the cereal.

Not with the Cents. Once you remove it from the packaging it's just a one cent coin. If a TPG removes it you can refer to the label on the slab.
