I think maybe you just got a $79 lesson. I hate to say it but I don't fight things like you guys do - I would chalk it up to experience, never buy from him again and move on - life is too short. You can of course fight all you want but it's not that expensive a lesson - I've had a lot worse. Plus you guys please don't rebuke me for this, this is how I do business I move on and fight a lot less and stay at peace a lot more.

Well you certainly didn't mention a "restocking fee" in your listing, and I will tell you again, if you refund the auction, there are NO ebay or paypal fees you will be responsible for.

I paid $17.80 to get the coin back to you overnight (to make sure the three days requirement is met, not that I am asking for that obviously, but I am already in this auction for that amount) and I do not think I should be responsible for yet another $79. because the auction is misleading and that coin is not MS. I have more than a dozen MS-63 to MS-66 coins and I compared it carefully to all of them. It is not the original luster, there has been cleaning or tampering I assure you. I encourage you to do the same. I really don't want to get into a negative exchange with you sir, I am sure you are an honest and trustworthy seller.

I just don't understand why I should be penalized for something I had no part in ,I am not in the business of making trouble, check my feedback!

 

Your painting yourelf into a corner with this. It you think this guy is nice, he isn't. He's a crook. If he mugged you in an alley way it would be no different. Go the the resolution center on ebay now your you risk losing not just 80 bucks, but every penny.

You are probably spot on about this guy, I was hoping to appeal to his good side by humoring him a bit, so that he will do the right thing, and promptly. I think inside he knows this coin is not what he presents it as. Trust me I am P***ed, I'm just gonna try one.last.time to resolve this peacefully.

This way I won't maybe have to go through a lengthy resolution process.

This is his last chance, and I will contact Ebay and Paypal.

 

The resolution process is a lot less lengthy that this friendly banter with him.

He won't get 10% if you file a paypal claim. Even go as far as calling paypal a day or so later if need be. Tom You will get your money it might just take a little bit. But whatever you do don't start threating him with negitive feedback. If you need to leave it that is good because he can't leave neg back. Believe me I know...I am a so called powerseller. Tom

 

Thanks, that is reassuring. I know not to threaten bad feedback, and I have not even brought the issue up. He is the one asking me to leave him positive feedback BEFORE I get the refund. What does he think I am an idiot???

I will give him 24 hours to respond, and then I am escalating this on Paypal.

I have my Receipt of shipment, all our correspondence was through Ebay's "Ask seller a question" so that should be available to them as well, especially where he asks me (unethically) to post feedback and then he will refund.

I am hopeful

Your worries about your Morgan Dollar appear to be unfounded. I have collected for years and have many, many Morgans and your coin seems to be fine from what I can tell in your two pictures. Keep your coin or coins sealed and protected and moisture free! Moisture will destroy your coins more then you know. Coin Supply sites sell anti-moisture packs to take care of these problems. Remember... the more you collect the more you will learn. Good luck and have fun. It's a great hobby, a little expensive and very addictive.

Wow you are the first one to say that. I can tell you this, I have quite a few slabbed MS60 - MS66 Morgans and it is quite obvious that the luster on this coin he sent is much much different. It does look dipped actually. Hopefully when he does relist thie coin on Ebay he finds someone such as yourself to take it off his hands. I am washing my hands of this shady guy AND his coin. I want my $799. back, plain and simple. He offers a refund within 3 days, I had the coin to him in less than 24 Hours.
One thing you are right about, I am learning every day.

Ok so this morning I filed a claim with paypal. At first I did this as a mediated resoultion, where PAYPAL sends him an email and we maybe work things out ourselves. At 1:30 this afternoon I upgraded it to an investigation.

just now I received this notice from PAYPAL:

The seller soon after emailed me and asked why I had filed a claim when he said that he would refund my money.

Yea "after you leave me feedback" was what he actually told me .



Boy have I learned a lesson...

 

He was going to lose anyway. It was easier for him just to pay it and not get on PayPal's bad side.
