lol nice talk.. thanks for comments anyway. Please give further comment if any member could discuss more in depth. Since i'm not US coins collector so it's the right place to learn from all of you.
I believe it's genuine. Multiple photos help. None of the mushiness one usually sees in transfer die forgeries, especially in the border or rim areas. No pits/holes from a foamy transfer medium. I do believe it is AU, from what appears to be gray metal on high points. I see a suggestion of hairlines on left rev. field, so possibly cleaned. Would need to see up close to be sure.
Good. I'm glad you brought this back to the top of the stack because I think this is an important post which can provide a service to someone and we have several decent experts on these coins around cointalk who haven't weighed in. Thanks Sparrow! Ruben
Yes you are right, slightly cleaned i have just seen it. The dealer told me that the different between US and european grade. He said based from the US grading standard it's MS-60 (although i think it's AU or AU+) and for European standard it's EF+.
only if it weights what its supposed to but for whatever reason the beak and the shield look odd it just could be strike/or wear or it could be something else
Good point. That was exactly my concern that for a coin with this much detail, why would the sheild be so oddly struck or worn. It would be a good idea to get a weight. Ruben
Ruben I can see where the coin would trouble you , ther's not one thing I can point to and say fake , it's just an overall lack of detail in some parts and stong detail in others , it could be misaligned dies . The stars bug me a littlle also , and the eagles lack of any detail in the claws and beak . It's probably real , but I would stay away from it , especially with all the Chinese fakes . rzage
The 1925 is notorious for having a VERY weak shield, horizontal and verticle, so that actually gives it more points towards genuine to me. I see nothing that would definitively tell me this is a fake. The step is incused like it is supposed to be for the first year 1925 too. Looks like a nice all around coin,
