I would say this the first Type 2 $20 sheet for this bank. They also had Type 1 notes, as well as large size notes.
The a-1 bill has a G which I think indicates the placement on the sheet, shouldn't that be an A. I need to read up on this obviously. Graded 64 only - the sheet looks perfect
Here are my matched set notes 19-24 on a local bank. They were the only small uncut sheets known on this bank until one surfaced and sold at the FUN show last year.
The first plate of small $20's was A thru F. The second plate for them would be G thru L. Sort of strange, since there were certainly not enough small Provincetown $20's printed to wear out the A-F plate.
No, you're thinking of how large-size Nationals worked. For small-size Nationals, the plates aren't bank-specific; the bank name and charter numbers were overprinted in a separate operation. All plates were 12 subjects, A-F in the left column and G-L in the right column. The two columns were cut apart before the bank information and serial numbers were overprinted, so serial number 1 might end up in position A or position G, depending on whether the pressman happened to grab a left half-sheet or a right half-sheet.
i think the bills might just be the 1st bills for that bank since there serial numbers started at A000001. im in no way an expert but thats pretty good evidence. there not STAR notes either. i don't see why the series didn't get a higher grade, i don't see ant problems. do you see any problems? that whole sheet is great. thanks for sharing....
