I would like to sale paper money and bullion. It seems I'm not set up for that. I updated my account info verified my banking and cell number and still no change on my manage payment to be lifted. What am I missing? Seems possible to get ahold of ebay on the phone . Ideas? Suggestions?

Is this their “managed payment system” notice? I believe they want to kick out paypal and manage the transactions themselves. Which means you have set it up.

It's been that way with managed payments since the beginning I believe, but starting the 25th of this month you'll be able to list coins/currency.

    Let's hope.

I know ebay is dumping paypal. I sell other items on ebay and I updated and confirmed my banking info etc. This is why I'm confused. And trying to contact ebay is nearly impossible.

It won't let me set up managed payments. It tells me it's not ready yet. But I had an email saying after January 13 and before January 25. It said after the 25 I wouldn't be able to list in coins and paper money category anymore if I didn't register. I contacted ebay through online chat and they didn't know why either but told me they noted it in my account that this was happening and supposedly I'll be able to keep listing after the 25. But idk. I'm moving some auctions to usacoinbook. If they don't allow me after the 25th I guess all will move over. And I even went and opened a separate checking account for this. That's what's really aggravating

I think if we all boycott ebay for long enough and move to other sites, ebay may change its tune. Maybe. Coin and currency sales provide ebay with a ton of income. If we don't participate, they lose money. Perhaps we (and coin sellers from other forums) can affect some kind of change. I, for one, will never allow ebay to manage my payments. Just a small suggestion. And I'm certainly not going to flame anyone for using managed payments. It is, after all, a personal choice for each of us.

I got a call today after I requested it Sat. The guy said people have complained enough they decided to uplift the restrictions. On the 25th it will open up for all...we will see

What are the pros and cons of using eBay Managed Payments?

And what other websites are good for selling coins?

There's no pros for the seller and makes no difference to the buyer. Ebay holds the payment from the transaction and then eventually releases it to the seller once the buyer is satisfied was my understanding of it. Was supposed to be another protection for buyers I guess?

Well it's the 25th and still not able to sell. Maybe they meant after the 25th. Back on the phone to get more answers.

USACoinBook, Wow, there's a site I forgot completely about. Evidently signed up in 2015. My login still works, however had to update the password.(May 6th 2015)
    Thanks for the refresher.

I am approaching the age of possibly selling some of my lifelong collection and the Ebay managed payment thing has me in a quandry also. I have sold a few items in the past using Paypal and all was well but now I am unsure what direction to take?

I spent several hours earlier this month going thru various threads/posts within this forum and compiled a "short" list of alternative places to sell your coins which I will list below, however, I wish one of the more experienced members would post where they have had the best success, other than Ebay for selling their coins.

Here is what I was able to garner from the forum threads:

    Within This Coin Forum
    ma SHOPS
    usacoinbook
    uCoin.net
    NUMISTA
    collectivecoin.com
    OmniCoin.com Coin Collectors Community
    Numiscorner
    USACoinsBook.com

I tried using Ebid for a while, and was very unsatisfied. I bought some coin or coins from a guy in Belgium and they never arrived. When I complained to him, he said that he had mailed them so it was not his problem. I had no recourse. I had a number of coins listed for sale on there and never made any sales, even though I had them priced very low. I have not listed anything on ebay for a long time. I also would like to find a good place to sell coins online, as I am tired of ebay and their policies and near total lack of customer service.

The coins you last saw on USACoinBook 5 years ago are probably still up there for sale. ;).

I applaud you people with the patience and fortitude to continue selling on the 800 lb gorilla that manifests itself as "eBay". I gave up on that platform back in 2009. I sell just on BST, later on I might sell some stuff via established auction venues like Great Collections. I just don't care for the drama platform and the dramatic bidiots.

I gave up ebay selling in January after their third warning that they were going to suspend me if I didn't comply with their new surveillance and information hoarding policy. I'm okay giving my DOB and Tax ID Number to a bank or paypal but not ebay, they're just a pass-through. I've had some success selling on usacoinbook since, but seems to be mostly bargain hunters there.
