Actually with the amount the mint produced, that is probably pretty unlikely. they apparently didn't learn from the Susan B. Anthony thing. If they would have just produced say 20 million at each mint each year, they wouldn't be sitting on over 1 billion of these right now. Then they decided to produce another circulating dollar coin that wouldn't circulate on top of it...WOW! They must be listening to the car manufacturer's business advisers. If the people want economy cars, why are you trying to sell them an SUV?

Very true. The opinion that can be called a fact. The only place silver dollars were circulated on a regular basis was Las Vegas. Even there it was only in the casinos.

 

Except before 1794 (Spanish milled dollars were popular), and the 1840's dollars circulated as well until the rising value of silver with respect to gold made them worth more as metal than as money. The dollar was popular during these periods because it was available and the paper money in circulation was of questionable value.

 

the mint should reduce the production of presidential and sacagawea dollars. there are too many right now. 3,768,005,592 in circulation. mint should limit to maybe 20,000,000 or lower for each president and sacagawea dollars. each year five designs should not make over 100,000,000.

I haven't seen an Andy Jackson dollar yet. Putting the date on the rim was a mistake.

 

yes. it was a big mistake. you can order it from the mint without mark up or surcharge. no shipping fee too. at the same time. you can earn 1% on your purchase by using the credit card that qualified. the problem is you have to order at least 250 pc or $250.00. anyway you can deposit it to the bank or use it. the mint still have the jackson dollars.

 

i just order 2,000 pc of 2009 sacagawea dollars again. i will help the mint to distribute it.

 

I might add . . . it's a cheap way to make money, since there is no shipping charge and no premium. My credit card gives 1% back on everything . . . so if I order 5000 pc for $5000, I net $50 without even doing anything.

FWIW, I only ordered $250 . . . just dipping my toe in the water first here . . .

Looks like they have already doubled. My guess is that they will settle in at $100+ a roll.

It would take me a very long time to spend 5K in Sac dollars.

I have been buying the $250 direct ship coins and spending those. I have noticed many folks around here say they would still rather have paper dollars and don't want extra change in their pocket. Personally I like being to take one coin out of my pocket for the vending machine rather than a bunch of loose quarters, dimes and nickels.

 

yes. it will take a very long time to spend $5,000.00 of one dollar coin. i got 8,000 uncirculated pieces. i will just keep 250 to 500 on each president that i got. i missed harrsion and van buren. zero for those two.

i was able to got four au+ and two vf 2002D sacagawea dollars. i don't know why people use it. those were only intended for collectors at a premium. and those were bought from the mint.
