Nope. He was also on the $100 United States Note, from Series 1869 to Series 1880. He first appeared on $5 bills starting with the large sized Federal Reserve Notes in 1914... he's been on every type of $5 note issued by the Federal Reserve or Treasury since (Federal Reserve Notes, Federal Reserve Bank Note, United States Notes, and Silver Certificiates). P.S. In case you're curious as to Lincoln's coin appearances: Circulating: 1909 to present, Lincoln cent 2002 Illinois state quarter 2006 South Dakota quarter Comemmorative: 1918 silver half dollar; Illinois centennial 1991 clad half dollar, silver dollar, gold 5 dollar; Mount Rushmore 2009 silver dollar; Lincoln bicentennial And next year will be Lincoln's turn in the presidential dollar series (should be releasead about November 2010). You ever do that Lincoln type set shadow box thing you were talking about, post a pic! Sounds like it would be a cool thing to see.
He has been on $5 Fed Reserve Notes, Fed Reserve Bank Notes, Gold Notes, Fractional .50 cent, Legal Tender, Silver Certs...heck just about everything except National Bank Notes..... RickieB
yeah i'm gonna do it, i'm just collecting the pieces right now. just got started, but so far i have ordered the '09 silver commemorative proof and unc. which supposedly will be shipped tomorrow (i hope?). i also have two new unc. 2009 pennies (P &D), 4 of the new lincoln stamps (1 of each), various lincoln cents (i will probably use a 1909 and a 1959, probably S mints), and a 1950 $5 and a 1963 $5 (but i probably won't use them in the set, as I'd rather have a 1869 and 1880 plus a 1914, 2001 and 2006 i believe, plus probably a 2009 as well). anyway, what do you think i can expect to pay for an 1869, and also an 1880?
Can't find any record of him ever being on a fractional, at least not in the Standard Catalog of United States Paper Money which is my main reference. Unless I missed it somewhere? And actually he was on $5 National Bank Notes, on the last series ever printed (1929).
$1 1899 Black Eagle Silver Certificates $10 1861 Demand Notes $10 1862/3 United States Notes $20 1863 Treasury Note / Interest Bearing Note $100 1869, 1875 and 1880 United States Notes $500 1882 & 1922 Gold Certificates So....looks like he's got about everything covered except the $2 and $50
OK going through the book page by page trying to find them all! Came up with this as major types (in parentheses are series date, not necessarily when actually printed): Fractional: 50 cents, 4th issue (1863) Large size: $1 silver certificate (1899) $5 Federal Reserve Notes (1914) $5 Federal Reserve Bank Notes (1915-1918) $5 silver certificate (1923) $10 demand note (1861) $10 United States Note (1862-1863) $20 Treasury (interest bearing) note (1864-1865) $100 United States Notes (1869-1880) $500 gold certificate (1863-1882, 1922) Small size: $5 National Bank Notes (1929) $5 United States Notes, first design (1928) $5 United States Notes, second design (1953-1963) $5 silver certificate, first design (1934) $5 silver certificate, second design (1953) $5 Federal Reserve Bank Note (1929) $5 Federal Reserve Note, first design (1950-1995) $5 Federal Reserve Note, second design (1999-2006) $5 Federal Reserve Note, third design (2006-present) $5 Federal Reserve Note, Hawaii emergency (1934) $5 silver certificate, North Africa emergency (1935) Not found him on anything ever denominated $20, or on any fractionals, other than that agree with whatever anyone else posted here. So as to OP's question, as far as I can tell the paper denominations Lincoln's ever been on, other than $5, are $1, $10, $100, and $500.
FR# 1374 4th Issue Lincoln Type on water marked paper 19, 152,000 printed Here is mine.....PMG 64 PPQ RickieB
I should have clairified the Nat Bank Notes to Large size... Indeed he was on Small Size Nat Notes type 1, 2, and 3... RickieB
Anyway, lots of good info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Presidents_by_currency_appearances
The 4th Issue of Fractionals were the result of the Act of March 3, 1863 Thet were released between July 1869 and Feb 16, 1875.... No real Seires year assoicated to these 4th Issue notes or other fractionals...they were issued over time spans. Beautiful notes and I have the vomplete 4th and 5th Issues...check em out in my collection if you so desire! RickieB
Thanks! I think that would be a very neat addition to the collection. Looks like I have a LOT of work ahead of me lol. Jarrid
Hmm... will take your word for it then (picture doesn't lie!), though Standard Catalog of United States Paper Money (26th edition) has no mention of any fractionals picturing Lincoln. Must have missed it I suppose... someone want to write them? Sure someone has by now... hopefully it will be fixed by the 27th...
Hey Troodon.... Quite an interesting history on the 4th Issue 50 cent notes..2 of them the Lincoln and Stanton note and the 5th issue 50 cent note is the Dexter... The Lincoln note was printed by; Face American Bank Note Co and the back was printed by the National Banknote Co. The Stanton and Dexter were printed by the (Face) BEP and Back was printed by National Banknote CO. RickieB
Ah, found it... it's mentioned in the book, but for some reason not pictured (don't know why not as half the page it's mentioned on is blank; they could have easily fit the picture there!) Yep, 4th issue, 50 cents.
