For me, it depends on the coin. If I'm paying BIG bucks for a coin, I prefer no toning, but if it is a "run of the mill" coin, I enjoy honest toning and wear.
Hey man I’m just asking questions and listening to input so I can learn. I know I post a lot of..posts, but it’s not like I’m just sitting around talking about myself. I’m creating discussions and learning from them.
Silver with significant circulation (around AU50 or lower) should look like it's been handled. Dull surfaces, gray tone, maybe some color depending on storage, maybe circulated cameo. A bright silver VF coin just doesn't look right!
I agree!! I usually enjoy your posts and the questions you ask, Gam3rBlake. I've learned a lot from reading the comments from the experts who answer them. Keep it up!!
I spent a lot of time in museums as a kid and I love coins that look their age, reminds me of the antique items behind the glass.
I like a hint of rainbow more than blast white. But, rainbow colors are often just a short-term stage of chemical reaction. They can soon turn to sooty black, which I don't appreciate on many coins.
