Sure he got paid. His editor asked him for an article on the gaming industry and that is what he got. Now, if his editor asked for an article containing accurate information about the gaming industry, his editor would have a reason not pay him. BTW, what do you want to bet on? I am bored. Haven't made a bet in almost 24 hours.
Wow, Jack. GREAT post. Very educational. I am one of those 94. I think you are a great guy with great coins and low shipping costs. I bought a NGC 47 S Lincoln MS 67 for a low price. Very nice coin. I will buy more as you cont to get some ones I want and can afford. I think "buy now" coins don't appeal to people's "need" to feel they got a good deal, and the thrill of a NR auction. You could try to auction some of those coins at NR and see what happens. Great Southern Coins does tones of business with fairly nice coins and they are all NR. None of them ever go for low prices. I have never, ever seen what I consider a deal there on that site. Check it out on eBay. GSC.
Jack 1st off Warmest Congratulations on your 1st year as a dealer :hail: Now what has not been said here regarding Jack and his buisness is what a nice guy he is and how very helpful to someone who knows very little about Lincolns (Ie ME LOL) Yep I have bought from Jack and he shipped them to me in the UK, the coins were better than described (IMHO) his shipping costs were amongst the best I have come across from the US for some time and his comunication was fantastic :smile Now as a small time buyer that counts for a lot. I have and will continue to reccomend Jack to any who ask me about a Lincoln dealer without any hesitation :hail: Ps his Hot sauces are bloody awsome as well LOL All the Best for the future Jack :kewl:
One could have the best website and competitive prices yet without a customer base to sell your product to.....you have nothing. Now back to the prices at mesacoincom. With my first few purchases from mesacoin.com, I tried to find a better price on any item over $100. I came close, but mesa was still better. With higher priced coins no other dealer comes even close. Seems like the larger the coin dealer, the higher the price. So Jack how do you keep your prices so competitive? Smart buying? Low overhead?
 Congratulations on your anniversary as a dealer and thanks again for all the knowledge you share here on the forum. :thumb:
Don't forsee it, but stranger things have happened. He's got a few Whasington quarters on his website now, maybe Indian coins are next.
Good of you to make such posts in this thread Jack. I've spent years telling people the same things you're telling them - but seems they won't ever believe me Hopefully they'll believe you
Maybe your lucky to live where you do. If you were around the Chicago area you would be at coin shows every weekend. I met one dealer at some shows that does nothing but buy, sell, buy, sell all month long. He goes to coin shows every weekend and spends all week looking for more coins. He usually has 3 tables at shows and always has a crowd around him. He claims he is in the 6 figure clear take per month. Don't know if I would or could ever live like that. No time for anything. But for now you sound like your having fun with your 1st year at it.
I assure you he could not do that in Oklahoma. I am not sure that there are 6 shows per year in the entire state.
Hey gang, I really really appreciate the accolades and compliments, but if we are not careful, this thread will turn into an advertisement, and thats not the point. I really do thank you tho who have given the thumbs up. Harry, I can sell lower because of far lower overhead AND I am having fun AND I buy right as well. I will have to tighten the screws a tad if this will succeed as a stand alone biz. In this economy, if my job goes by the wayside, this will be my backup. I am very interested in the pro's on this site opinions and reflections on their 1st year in biz......I wonder if everybody made the same mistakes I have made, learned as fast ( as I think ) I did, and had as much fun. Making a profit is for year 2, many business take 3-5 years to profit, so to write year 1 off as tuition is fair in my mind. I know off hand, we have a bunch of full time numismatists, and 3 of them are full time SELF employed, Charmy Harker, Rick Snow and Mark Feld, and all three have been wonderful with the advise and pointers. C'mon folks, lets here from you as well on your start-up and early years. I'll close out my thread with some Thank You's. Jason ( Budgood ) has been instrumental in my success, Chris ( CaveTroll ) is one pro I turn to and always look forward to seeing at shows. Mark Feld has patiently answered my phonecalls and emails and can be trusted for pointblank no bull advise, whether I like it or not ( Thanks Mark ) Of course, my closest pros and poker partners, Rick and Charmy have been more than great, I ALWAYS look forward to the dinners and games with them. Two of the best copper experts on the planet, I am proud to call them friends. Then you guys on this site, GD is my main man, too many others to name. Rlm has already been mentioned. Clembo, Rlm and I have even roomed together at shows, always a blast. Friends, contacts, customers, buyers , sellers, etc etc, Cointalk is a blast. It has made me a better collector, seller, buyer, blogger, I have done nothing but benefit since I found this site, now that leaves..... Peter T Davis, The BOSS. Without Peter, I don't think I could have pulled this off. My thanks for Peter are more than I have room to type. Peter, I am not a expert communicator, but my thanks are many and they are often:bow: My last and most important thank you is to my Uncle Skip in Detroit, who so generously gave me the gift of coin collecting as a youngster, a lifetime hobby and whos nurtering and wisdom has inspired and helped me beyond belief. To quote Yogi Berra, it seems alot more like today than it did yesterday. Lets hear from the rest of you who have taken the plunge....I think we ALL will benefit.
I " hired " a helper. AZ MArk, my other recovering Detroiter buddy. He will look at you like a deer in the headlights and call me on my cell phone, I will then hurry back to the table, lol

[/QUOTE] Thank you for the honorable mention Jack ,it has been my pleasure. As for your last statement ,it got me thinking to one of the best pieces of advice I recieved on Cointalk . It was from a great guy - one of our old MODS Satootoko. I have changed my signature to the quote. He told me this the day I decided to enter the "profession" full time.
