I've been looking through examples of this doubling, and it seems to match mostly with some of Wexler's examples, but I am hoping that somebody here can offer some insight into whether this coin is hub doubling or machine doubling. Doubling seems to get stronger from east to west. See below.
It appeared to my untrained eye to match some of wexlers noted varieties including the east to west spread increase, but the sharp edges definitely made it more difficult to determine for sure. Thanks for the input!
1964 are so plentiful in high grade out there in circulation, it pays to really check them out. I can almost guarantee that you will find a 1964/1964D DDO/DDR/RPM.
I usually don't pay any attention to nickels at all. Idk why, I guess they just have never struck me as interesting. By the sounds of it I should adjust my thinking though lol
Sure - Billions of nickels out there. Side note: just cleared off my daughter's desk of a pile of change. Sitting on top was a particularly nice 1964 D...barely any circulation wear. I like searching the date as I mentioned as there are a bunch of opportunities - Brian's Variety Coins - 1964 Nickel Doubled Die Listings
