Yes, I did, and I am sorry—the internet does not convey context. Yeah, it has a lot of Cameo, like many of the PL and DMPL coins often have. Given the deep mirrors, and lots of Cameo, I think NGC might well grade it as DMPL. Since they won’t cross it, all I have to do is have it graded as if it were raw. Nothing to lose, except for the fee.
Here is an 1897-S I bought not too long ago. It has very much the same look as your 1896. Very frosty devices with deep mirrored fields. Liberty in particular is VERY frosty. It was love at first sight. It's raw and needs to go in for grading.
That is a gorgeous coin. I would say 65 very strong PL, right on the verge of DMPL, just like my 1896. That is very much worth grading, as Gem PL coins are as good as it gets.
