    Hi
I recently got my first PCGS coin with a NFC chip in it to verify.
My phone is newer but doesn't have NFC in it to verify.
So I'm wondering how does one verify the NFC chip thing in my situation?
Can you buy an NFC reader to tap it against?
Can you install NFC on phones without it?
I'm trying to not buy a brand new phone, mine is only 2 years old but doesn't have NFC for whatever reason. It is android.
    Thanks for any ideas!

I think the phone has to have NFC hardware on it for the app to work. My phone doesn't have the NFC hardware so looking for other solutions. Wondering if there's another solution like a USB NFC reader or something like that. Or any other ideas.

    Samsung Galaxy A10E
It doesn't have anything in the settings for turning on NFC.
And another app i downloaded to check for NFC said it wasn't on it.

It's only a year old and they still sell them on Amazon, so I'm surprised that NFC isn't on it.

I also installed the newest PCGS certification app to verify I had the latest but that still didn't do anything different. It only had the option to enter the cert number manually or scan the barcode. It had no option to do an NFC check. So not sure what app they are talking about.

This is the first I've heard of this NFC chip...but it makes sense. I found a USB RFID reader on Amazon, but it's currently unavailable.

After reading some of the reviews, it sounds like this could be more effort than it's worth. It may be best to see if you can get something for your current phone as a trade-in...assuming this feature is a "must have".

If you had an NFC-enabled phone, this is how you would activate it...

Regular iPhones or Samsungs would have NFC. My S9 does.

The A10e is a Samsung Phone but is one of their budget options ($180 at tmobile and even less with some other carriers) while the iphones and others are often $300-$1k+ in price (they probably need to cut back some features to lower the price).
