1956 Lincoln Wheat Penny-Die Break Error Obverse??

Hi guys,

I have this 1956 Lincoln Wheat penny and would like to know what the piece of metal is considered, located at Lincoln's Bow tie on the Obverse (See close up Photo). Is this a die chip or a die break error?

Die Chips are Die Breaks

Breaks and chips are the same thing. You have a nice one there.

 

Like the slaves in the deep south, it is the result of an abused and overworked die.

Interesting place for a die chip. The mid to late 50's and early 60's coins had lots die chips on them. Which I think had more to do with some of the dies being to brittle and prone to breakage during this time period.
