every month when i go to the bank i ask for any "home rolled" rolls they have on hand.. well this month i got a couple rolls of dimes.. 1 coin of interest and it ain't a dime haven't seen one of these before
I've had those creep into coin rolls of US cents before. They're pretty common, though obsolete now. This type was the last of the British halfpennies. If you go through World coin bulk lots with any regularity, you'll see many more of these.
I saw lots of these in England when I was there in 1973. They had changed over to decimal currency in 1971. No more farthings, sixpence, shillings, and the like. Pence and pounds only.
At least the 1/2 penny coins fit in coin rolls, I have found far more - like several dozen over the years 1 penny coins that are crammed in the rolls because they are a bit larger than a US cent but to most people they appear to be a cent.
One would have a bit more difficulty fitting a predecimal British halfpenny into a US cent roll! Maybe in a quarter roll...
Good to know they were melted Maybe the jar full that I pulled from US circulation will help me buy that BMW I’m looking at
