Yeah. And the most corroded zinc pennies I ever seen were the ones that came out of an elbow section of pipe that supplied drain service to a bank of urinals on the USS Midway back in 1990 or so when the section of pipe in our head was being replaced. Seriously ate them up alive like nothing I ever seen before.
Looking back at the time I was roughly 5 years old, I can understand now why my parents stressed for me not to put coins in my mouth. I used to do that every once in a while. After warning me not to do it a few times since I didn't learn yet, my mother gave me a backhand from hell across the side of my face in short order. Coins flew everywhere. That was a lesson I never forgot. I learned that lesson right after that. Good old-fashioned tough love. As an adult I understand why they didn't want me putting change in my mouth.
