I imagine that it would have looked pretty cool if you had a black string attached to the top, and had the weight spinning in the air with a black background. Very nice weights!

Below is a photo of the rig that made the OP video. The half ball idea TIF mentioned is sooo last year and is no longer used. I tend to try 100 things for each one that makes it into regular use. The feature here is the flat, flexible background is restricted by a pair of screws that bends the background up preventing the coin from sliding off (that happened so the screws were added). This would be better if the bamboo scrap were replaced with a smooth dowel and the four screws that catch on the bamboo were replaced with a ball bearing set up that would smooth the movement. If I were to go on with this I assume I would find other upgrades but the fact remains that this is not headed toward improving on Harlan Berk and his hand model (who I assume is fifty years younger and certainly more dexterous than I). That is OK, I was not expecting an offer for employment from HJB anyway.

I have spent much of my life taking still photos. Videos are another game.

I thought your video was pretty good. IMO the best value of a video is to show the luster or cartwheel effect on modern coins. I bet your method would provide a nice video of a MS Half dollar or a Morgan/Peace dollar. Try it please. :)
Edit. @RonSanderson has a different method and his coins show up beautifully. Ask him for his method if you don't want to do your own.
