LordM Giveaway #52 (pick your prize)

Update: This drawing is now CLOSED. Winner announced in Post #102.

(Side note: looks like server issues killed most of my pictures. Bummer.) :(

This giveaway is brought to you by Penny, our latest foster-kitten. Seen here in her first modeling job, Penny is posing with her favorite coins. She thought they were all pennies. (She's still a pretty young collector, so I didn't have the heart to tell her that technically, only one of those four coins actually IS a penny. Can you guess which one?)
    9F8A7B20-6F0F-49FA-953A-85786E902E22.jpeg

    To enter this giveaway:

    • State which one of the following coins below you would like to have, and in a few words, describe what you like about it. That post will be your entry post. Additional conversational posts are fine, but will not increase your chances in the random drawing. You only get one entry post. (You may, however, enter the tandem giveaway over on Collectors Universe to double your chances, if you have a membership over there.)
    • Alternately, if none of the coins below are anything you want for yourself, you may designate another CoinTalk member to receive your prize instead. Just name that member rather than choosing a coin. Then if you do win, your chosen recipient will be able to pick whichever coin they want.
The drawing will be done via random number generator sometime in early February, 2021.

Entries from international members are welcome. As usual, there is no shipping charge nor any strings attached.

    Numismatic Regards,

    ~Robertson ("Rob") Shinnick ("LordM")

    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Scroll down for the prize selections below. Sure, these are all inexpensive items, but I think I've provided a fun variety to choose from. Some of the cheaper prize lots ($10 and under) will come with added "mystery bonus items" to sweeten them up a little.

These coins are also listed in my swapstock inventory, so they are occasionally subject to prior sale. If the coin you wanted is not still available by the time of the drawing, you will of course be allowed to make another selection. And I'll try to occasionally add more to the list as others sell. (You can always change your mind after the drawing if you end up liking some new arrival more.)

(Note: some of the links lead to pages on CollectiveCoin, which can take several moments to load. Be patient, and they eventually should.)

    Coin #15.
I have a couple 1R and 2R coins that I picked out of junk boxes 35-40 years ago and always liked the possibility that these coins could have circulated in the early days of our country.

Edit to add: The ones I have were in junk boxes for a reason, it would be nice to have a better one)

That is indeed the filename I used for the hyperlinked photo! :p

This Penny Cat is actually Penny the Second. She is named for another Calico cat who was with us from about 1999-2014. Daughter gave her that name as an homage to the first Penny.

I'll go with #9. Having grown in an ex Spanish colony, we studied so much the Catholic Kings so this would be an interesting piece to own.
On the other hand, I don't have enough knowledge on that area (1400-1500s) to I'm a bit reluctant to just buy a coin from a random person. Having a trustworthy source in this case also adds weight to my decision.

Side note: If y’all entered last month’s giveaway (#51), and had your eye on a particular prize then, do note that while the prize list here is mostly the same, some of the numbers have changed since the last time around.

Since I began collecting ancient coins, I've found myself drawn towards Roman coinage from before Constantine's reign. I don't have any coins depicting Elagabalus, so if I were fortunate enough to win, that would be my choice of prize. Nonetheless, I'd also like to share a Nerva denarius that I acquired recently courtesy of VCoins.

I like #24 - Mexican silver is cool - reminds me of some old cowboy flicks, where the hero would ride into some dusty old Mexican town and head for the local cantina - he'd order a cerveza or whiskey and pay with a silver peso or two ;)

#34 I've never had a broad struck and would love to add one to my collection.
Thanks again for the contest Rob.

What happened to Penny's nose? Looks like an injury. Poor baby. Glad she has a good home with your family.

Same reason as before - it looks delicious. And I'm not into ancients, as I feel ancient enough myself.
BTW, the coin closest to Penny is the Penny from Great Britain. The others are Cents from the U.S. - make sense?!?!
And thanks, LordM, for the continuing chance to win something.

I would choose coin #10 this time around, for myself finally.

I love the look of that hammered coin and I think it would be a nice compliment and counterpoint to some of the religious themed bronze medals I have been acquiring. I also have never owned any pre-industrial era coin of any type. It would be a worthy addition to my collection.

I would self slab it and display it next to the piece below. It would be a perfect counterpoint.

Small vs. large, silver vs. bronze, Budapest vs. Rome, beginning of life vs. . . . . well, its pretty obvious.
