I am starting my Christmas shopping early this year, and I need a little help.

I want to buy everyone on my list a coin from their birth year, but I'm not sure exactly what to get for 1959. I wanted it to be a kind of unique coin that takes a little effort but I don't want to spend 1000 dollars a coin either, so what would you suggest for 1959? I thought maybe a Franklin half or something?

How about a mint Proof set it's what I am doing. I have 11 brothers and sisters and each is getting a mint set for the year they were born. Ice

The proof set is cheap. A nice cameo proof Franklin would be nice.

It just depends on your budget.

A cameo Lincoln would be nice.

A cameo Lincoln would be nice. One with no spots fresh and nice Cameo to it. It don't have to be deep cam. but nice.
    Should be under $20.

I agree, IF the recipient is a collector. To a non-collector, "a penny is a penny".

Commidaddy, why not get everyone a birth year set? This past Christmas I assembled a set of higher end circulated and a few uncirculated (depending on what the coin shop had) for my father. You can pick up a pretty nice holder for cheap and the coins will be protected fairly well. Just a thought, but I think my father liked the gift.

Ok so I've decided to get a higher grade '59 Franklin proof for my father-in-law. I want it to be NGC certified at probably MS-61 or higher, so how much do you think I can expect to spend? I know I've seen a lot of them on ebay for 250-300, but of course I don't want to pay that and I really don't like buying on ebay, so suggestions to how much to spend and where to buy it from (since there aren't any coin stores near me) would be appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. What about a coin for 1927, 1928 and 1929? Got some grandparents to shop for.

I just searched Heritage. Here are some of the ones from the first page that I think are reasonable:

A PCGS MS64 FBL for $31.00, another one for $33.00

    An MS65 FBL for $54.00
And an NGC MS65 for $31.00

For those late 1920's dates, right off the top of my head, I'm thinking you could get some nice Mercury dimes from those dates.
