Anyone want to take a guess on a grade for thsi raw coin. The "14 year old boy" selling it thinks it is flawless. I look at the pictures and think the strike is a bit week, even if it is a full head, especially on the back.

He wants over 2K for it. If I was serious about this, I would have it slabbed, even f I was 14 years old.

Where does it say he is 14 years old?
The seller has 100% feedback for 195 transactions so looks good..

FWIW, it is a weak strike. Look at the fade in the left leg and the wings on the reverse. The T, the Y and the wings.... Nice it as a full head, but the rest of the detail is missing,

Just unfounded accusations. He still has 100% positive feedback. Maybe his dad helps him list.

No one is forced to buy anything on eBay. Follow the listing and see how long it goes.

How much would it be valued at then? I'm into SLQ's now. Especially since I metal detected 4 of them in 2020.

100% positive feedback on ebay means nothing. I appreciate your opinion that it is unfounded, but I am looking at his selling record and the facts and find it highly likely that he is not 14 years old and the coins are coming from a dark source. Until you KNOW exactly where the coins came from and how he acquired them, then you can ***not*** assume it is a legal acquisition. I've worked for several (two) years in a museum and in the arts world and nothing is acquired without researching it for pedigree and authentication. The best gangsters all have wonderful ebay ratings. Additionally, he is either lying or in violation of ebay rules.

I agree. I'm not seeing anything in his history that I would worry about.

Keep us abreast of your silver and slq finds...at some point i want to stop being a voyeur ...get out there and get my hands dirty...i've got the time just need to be organized and skillful like you.....eg. after the great Chicago fire much of the waste was used as land fill for the lakefront of streeterville ..we have a lot of potential sites here....

    My take on the seller:

If he is 14 years old, he is breaking eBay rules. Not to mention that because he is under 18, he can't legally enter into a contract, so legally, you're setting yourself up if you decide to purchase from him.

    If he isn't 14 years old, he's a liar.

So by dealing with this seller, you are consciously buying from someone who is not on the up-and-up IMO.

The claim is coming from you, so the burden of proof is on you.

Also, your “opinions” could land you with a libel suit if you are wrong.

The coin is MS66 FH all day and the price is full retail. My problem isn't that the coin is raw, but that the photographs are high quality professional photos that you would find in a major auction house (eg Stack's). There is no way these are his photographs and I find it hard to believe this coin was raw when it was photographed.
