Hi, I'm hoping someone can give me a steer as to whether this is a genuine error (and if so, what type?). There is no damage to the rear of the coin, just what can be seen in the below image. Its a 1994 silver dollar which I picked up on ebay (UK) around 15 years ago. Thanks!
The more appropriate name is ASE=American Silver eagle can we get full pictures of the coin obverse and reverse .
Nice strike through but it's not a silver dollar. It's an ASE that's made of silver, .999 fine 1 oz., with the value of a dollar. It's worth more than a dollar based on the silver content.
I'm with the strikethrough theory. It's possible that it was the result of a dropped element (grease-fill).
It's a dollar, and it's made of silver. It's a silver dollar. So is a Morgan dollar, but a Morgan is still a silver dollar.
You would probably have problems spending either one of them. But point out that it is clearly maked as being a dollar and you could probably spend either of them.
