Got my lincoln rolls!

Picked up 5 rolls at my local Bank of America, (near houston) They aren't mint wrapped but the standard bank 50 cent white and red rolls, a couple of them look like they have some sort of machine damage in a circular gouge on the end coins, wonder what they are bringing resale if they aren't mint wrapped?

Just put them up on ebay you'll probably get $100 a roll!

 

and if there is no MM below the date does that mean it is a P? Or did they move the MM?

 

Ha, I wish, looks like BWRs are going for about 8-10$ per roll, probably dont have enough rolls to make it worth the trouble.

I literally just came from Bof A and they told me that they could not get them. How'd ya do it?!?

 

I just asked them if they had any 09 pennies and they had a box just come in from the supplier, they said a lady that was off today ordered them! I guess she will be mad when she comes in tomorrow, im going back in the AM to see if they got more.

 

ill probably just take a couple of the better ones out for my set and save the other rolls in case some DDs come out later or something. They sure look like they are all bag marked and gouged just like my mint wrapped rolls of jeffersons I got awhile back. may be lucky to have one good coin out of the lot, if I can pick up more I will probably throw them up.

 

The Philadelphia minted ones have no mintmark, just like the standard Lincoln cents.

Haven't seen any Denver or San Francisco ones yet but presumably the D and S respectively, are in the usual place below the date. Can't see why they'd move them since the obverse hasn't been changed at all, just the reverse.

Yea I figured it was the same but part of the paper roll was covering some of the features so I wanted to be sure, I never got excited enough about the chage to learn more about it, just happened to ask while I was at the bank, also got a couple of $ rolls mixed looking for a good sac for my type set, they all look like they have been covered in dirt or left by the pool, I thought these weren't ciculating? Maybe just casinos? Also there were some SBAs, common 79 and 99's.

 

Did you manage to get any without those "water spots" we're so accustomed to seeing on the new Lincolns?

 

Not on the end coins, I am debating about breaking them open, but I did notice on a couple of the end coins that there is a circular gouge like someone took a cigar punch and twisted it into the face of the coin, dont know if that is from a counting machine or what, I wonder if there will be any less value if I rewrap them if I pick through them.

 

I personally would dig into them. I doubt there will be a shortage of these in rolls as soon as the initial rush is over.

 

I ordered 2 boxes from my local BOA...hopefully they will come in...

and it's the KY rolls that are going for $100+

 

OK, so curiosity got the better of me and I broke out one of the rolls with the circular gouge on it, I must say I have a mixed review on the cent. The reverse looks much better in person than in pics I have seen, it is still rather unartistic but when you hold it at different angles you can see the details fairly well, they are all very well struck with great detail in all the areas, very sharp, the fields are close to proof like, there was a modest amount of bag marks, not too bad considering these must have come out of bags and gotten rolled for the bank. There are the spots on most of them like someone else mentioned, waterspots and these grey spots too. There seems to be a halo effect of dullness around the obverse rim on most of them, I think maybe stress on the metal from when it was punched? There seem to be radiating lines in the dullness which I usually see when metal has been stretched. The best one I found actually had a fingerprint on it! Just my luck, over all I think 2 out of the roll are album worthy if you aren't real picky. so what, about 4% keepers out of a roll, sounds about right.

 

sell the rest on e-bay at $2 a coin.

 

Just to make it clear, it is still hard to get these coins (at least in AZ).
