    Howdy peeps, :)

One of the Conder series I absolutely adore is the Pidcocks series. I finally picked up a little farthing a few weeks ago:

I don't have the books on these so if someone does, I'd appreciate getting the skinny on it. :thumb: It weighs 4.4 grams, has a reeded like edge (see pics), and is a tad bit bigger than a nickel.

    Ribbit :)

Ps: It's a lot more darker red than the pictures reveal. :kewl:

Very cool Toad. Do the surfaces all look original? :)

I need to get a light to take pics with so my pics will turn out better. This one's surfaces look proof-like and there's a light crack running through the trunk (E to star above trunk) and what looks like a clashed die mark from the nostrils (end of trunk) to the H in EXHIBITION.

    Ribbit :)

Cool. What is that purple thing that you take all of your pics on? :eek:dd:

A Crown Royal bag a friend of mine gave me. I have several he gave me and I keep my "loose" coins in several of them (ones I have that aren't in my album because they don't fit in my collection). The material is soft and won't hurt my coins, plus, it's darkish so it makes a good background color for pics. I'm hoping to pick up something black someday but until then, I'll use the bag. ;)

    Ribbit :)

Hey Toad - my PC died at home and I can't see your pics on my work PC. So, until that home PC gets well again, I can't help you until then. Maybe Conder101 will pipe in.

I was waiting for the conder cat to see this. ;)

Hey there G - yup, I have a couple of new Conders to talk about here, but I was taking a bunch of pictures, had uploaded them to the PC, selected & cropped the best ones, and then suddenly my ancient PC lost power and cannot be revived. So, I'm hoping the repair will not be a big deal. Can't afford a new computer and I'd hate to have to start all over again on my pics!

Hey Catbert. That is a serious bummer! A good investment may be a back up hard drive. Just in case something like this happens and you cant retrieve your data. :thumb: Costco has good prices on them. They actually have a 1 TB Western Digital My Book external hard drive right now for $139 I think. It is pricey but worth it.
    1 TB = 1024 GB = 1048576 MB = 1073741824 KB!
So 1 TB may be a bit overkill but they have different sizes for cheaper. :D

It actually sounds like his power supply went out, which is common and easy to fix yourself. ;)

Talk about "milking" a thread!

So, if elephants never forget and two heads are better than one, which would be smarter:

    Two-headed cow?
    or
    Two-headed elephant?

    Ribbit :D

    Toad I hate you. :D

That happens to be a piece I need for my own collection.
It's a D&H 1065 and was a genuine trade token used as change (and for advertising) for admission to Pidcock's Exhibition. Pidcock had some thirty four different designs of half penny tokens struck and ten different farthing designs. There are three different farthings that combine an elephant obverse (two different dies) with a two headed cow reverse (two different dies). As I mentioned you have #1065 which is the first elephant obverse with the designers name under the elephant, combined with the first reverse that has small letters and a * between the cows horns. This die pair comes with a milled edge (1065) and with a plain edge (1065a). It also comes on thick and thin planchets. At 4.4 grams yours is probably on a thick planchet.

The 1065a is an R-6 token (RR in D&H) and the 1065 is considered common. (Then why can't I find one?) I don't have a rarity breakdown on the thick and thin planchets. I also do not have ay mintage information on the token. The tokens were designed by B Jacobs of London, and they were struck by William Lutwyche of Birmingham Warwickshire.

You appear to have some sort of variety or error. A DDO or DDR?

I can see some clear doubling in the cow's head area....

    :)

I think all of the doubling comes from recutting and not true doubling. There's so much doubling and no pattern whatsoever, so I've figured it's from recutting and not being restruck.

    Good eye! :kewl:

    Ribbit :)

Ps: Hey Conder? Sounds to me like it's Bartertime. ;)

Yeehaw - "I can see clearly now the rain is gone" - my PC is now back to normal! Fan went out which then fried the power supply....that'll do it!

Toad - the pics are great. Don't you just love the dentils on these pieces? They turn me on, big time!

Congrats on a very nice token. Save some for me please.

I like the two headed cow, she looks like one of the "happy cows" from the California cows commercials. :D Those tokens are neat, I'm starting to favor them myself. Congrats on a nice find. :high5:
