Pontus Amisos 2 for 1!

    Double struck that is.

    Hey y'all, here's a cool double struck coin I found a while back at a fun show from Allen Berman for $22. Needless to say I saw it and it was MINE! Haha

    Anyways thought I'd share it so here it is! Man I love this coin.

    I did the best I could with the pics... It looks better in person

    Pontus Amisos
    Mithradate Eupator, 121-63 B.C. AE23
    Obverse: Aegis with Gorgon, doubled
    Reverse: Nike advancing to the right, doubled

    Here's the coin that made me president of the severed medusa head club. A triple strike:

    Pontos. Amisos c 85-65 BC.
    Bronze Æ, 30mm., 18,18g.
    Helmeted head of Athena right, helmet decorated with griffin / AMIΣOY Perseus standing holding harpa and head of Medusa, at feet, body of Medusa, monograms to both sides.VF Sea 1166-76 (same).

    Great looking double-strike. They did seem to be in a hurry when they made these. Not double-struck, but here's Medusa peeping in from the edge, uncharacteristically shy:
