Thanks rlm! Here's a rather intriguing coin, I believe to be NT but I'm sure someone will jump on the AT bandwagon....I love controversy!
This is one of the most flawless coins in my collection. I call it MS-66++, I'm not big on slabbing non-keys, but I may slab this someday.
If it will help any, here is my 67, even if it is NGC. If there is aany doubt, the scratches are on the slab.
Man, I don't know. I guess your description is quite accurate. Your reverse is better than mine. Your obverse is as good as mine - except those nicks on Abe's collar. As another guess, on a good day, you make a 67, the rest a 66.
Yep, that's a touch of verdigris. Rinse the coin with acetone and get it into an Airtite ASAP to stop it dead.
Sure, find the purest stuff you can and run a residue test on it before using. Put some in glass container and let it evaporate, check for residue. Don't use finger nail polish remover! It contains ethyl acetate and will create problems.....like actually feeding the verdigris. Also, be aware acetone is flammable, so keep it away from heat and flame! It drys instantly so rinse, catch in a paper towel, pat dry and put it right into an Airtite without touching it. That should pretty well stop the reaction where it is. If you choose to attempt removal, on another note, there's a thick spot in there. I suspect either it's irremovable or, if you do remove it, there will be a "divot" under it. I'd say probably best left alone as is, it's a nice coin.
Here's a 1960D small date I have with nice album, ring toning....I put it next to a BU for comparison.
