I got a friend in Israel with whom I've been trading for quite some time. He taught me how to read the years in Hebrew.

Thank you everyone. I have multiples of each coin, so it might be better to bring them in.

Temple Etz Chaim - Thousand Oaks, CA, is that a temple or a synagogue, is there a difference between the two? Not being facetious, genuine question.

OK I have one more if you could help.

Kid Romeo what kind of coin is that? The one that was first minted by state of Israel?

I stand corrected on that. The Arabs might not use Hebrew but the British did make coins mark "Palestine" with both Hebrew and Arabic.

If you are asking about the pic of the coin I posted then its a 25 Mils coin (km#8); first ever coin minted by Israel in 1948 although the mintage continued till 1949.

My great-grandfather fought in WWI and my grandfather fought in WWII. Most were collected overseas, on travel, or minted in US for servicemen overseas. I am very fortunate that I have been able to have these coins passed on to me. I have been adding what I find in my pocket over the years. I really would like to keep them for future generations of my family, that is where the most value is for me. I need to get coin protectors though, and stop touching them.

Good to hear that you value your inherited collection so much. Most people who ask for value and ID of inherited coins are in lookout for ways of selling them. Get these coin slabbed for better protection and authenticity and I guess your best option to add value to your collection is to add more coins from WWI and WWII era. Cheers:thumb:.

I have a WWII era Egyptian coin, when I find it again I'll put up pics. I will probably set up a gallery or website with all the coins at one point. Once I get a handle on them. Right now I have been trying to seperate them by country, daunting when you cant read half the languages.

What kind of coins do you collect?

What is slabbing? I have heard other people use that term, but I dont know what it means.

I noticed a lot of WWII era coins out on the net right now. My assumption is a lot of them have been handed down and people are pawning them off. Might be a good time for me to start picking some of them up on Ebay.

Setting up a website is a good idea.
If you are planning on buying or cataloging your collection buy the 2009 Krause Standard Catalog of Word Coins 1901-2000 book or use this site http://www.worldcoingallery.com

My main interest is in world coins of 20th century.

With the economy down its the best time to buy rare coins cheap.
For more details about TPG slabbing read this thread:
