What a difference the lighting makes right. The first pic of each is with the GE bulbs, The second pics were taken outside. The coin definitely looks alot better in hand ( The scratches aren't as prominent.)
Undergraded: 63-64 Over Graded: 65-66 Stella Grade 65.4 PL Heh, now i got my own gradin system and its down to the tenth...lol...
Your definitely right Jim, I can't even find some of the scratches on the coin, that are in the pics.
The coins are very similar, From the pics the S reverse seems to be cleaner then the cc. I was going by the tpg, GD don't CC usually get a bump in grade, while S are usually graded much tougher. So a CC may have a few more scratches yet still get a higher grade than an S.
Yes, the TPG's are more lenient it seems with the CC coins. But that is partialy why I mentioned the other coin, so that folks could compare the differences in how the coins are graded. This CC for example has noticeable bag marks (and I don't mean the frost breaks, frost breaks and bag marks are two different things) while the coin Jim posted does not. The point is to recognize that the TPG graded this coin a 65. Given that, even though Jim's coin is a bit nicer condition, it too would grade a 65, but because it is from a different date/mint. Just trying to point out the grading differences is all.
