good deal or rip-off?

I posted pics of this in another thread where it was only borderline appropriate (my reasoning being that the conversation drifted off to a grade of PO-1.)

I hypothesized that ANACS would grade this coin PO-1 damaged. Do you agree with the grade?

It's definitely an 1806 bust quarter. I bought it last weekend for $10.

In person, with the light at the right angle, all 4 digits of the date are partially visible. The reverse shows absolutely no detail whatsoever.

Do you think I got a good deal, or am I insane?

I admit to my own insanity, but that has little to do with my numismatic proclivities.

This 203-year-old coin just had to have a good home for ten bucks. It was quite obvious that the previous owner did not love her. She was jammed into a box, right in the middle of a long row of 2x2s full of nondescript, character-less coins.

for an 1806 quarter you did good , and it would make a kool necklace .JK

Which would you rather have... this coin or the $10 ?

Last weekend, the answer was "the coin". I bet it still is.

    900fine: I'm going to guess that you're a salesman for a living.

I'm not going to ask your permission, but here's notice that I'm going to use that line when I'm trying to sell coins. Thanks!

You really can't lose, even for $10. Bust quarters just don't pop up every day...in ANY condition.

    It was $10 well spent.

    I agree - $10 well spent.

$10 well spent. When I smoked cigs ( almost 2 weeks now gang ) $10 would not even buy a pack of smokes and a 6 pack. You have a Bust Quarter !

Your COL in arizona is too high - here $10 is half a carton. :)

Marlboros here are $6 a pack, 6 Sam Adams add another $6.50.......
Cheapo route: GPC and Keystone.......$9.88 total ( trust me, I know )

In NY, Camel Lights $5.00 (with a $1 off instant coupon and Sam Addams $6.99 a six pack). An 1806 quarter for $10, regardless of the damage is a great deal.

And don't forget April 1st the Federal cigarette tax is going up about 60 cents a pack.
