I called my c.c. issuer that i used for my UHR Eagle,
that i ordered Jan 22.I was shocked to find my available $ went fron $2400 to $400.I asked them why
they said "mastercard is reducing the credit limit of
cardholders."I have never been late on payments, but
that doesn't matter.I told them i will make a payment by phone, right now.

I was never notified of this by mail. This happens
the week my UHR is due to ship. The banks deserve
to die, & be replaced by new banks with integrity.
    :(

citibank did that to one of my credit cards. On a credit card with 3k limit... had a balance of $378.... they lowered my limit to $380.

    No lates, etc.

banks are tightetning up. best thing you can do is use each card once every two months or so to show activity

Hummm....I guess I'm lucky. I have a Chase card and they recently increased my limit from $35,000 to $41,000....zero balance on it.

no credit cards here so no worries. They're nothing but credit traps.

I warned my card holders that increasing or decreasing my credit limit without my prior knowledge would result in my immediate cancelation of my card, not to mention other measures I might take against them. It has kept both card providers pretty well in check.

I am not sure just what you mean "credit traps" unless they entice you to spend too much. Personally, I figure that they earn me $1000+ each year between their cash back and lending me thousands of dollars per month interest free. I long ago figure out that their interest rates calculations made it a loosing proposition to run a tab with them

The two cards that I use just recently lowered my percentage rates....any idea why? Maybe because I pay my bills on time and always in full......:D

Exactly my sentiments....just pay it off every month and they're one of the best deals around.

I too got messed up with those cards. I purchased something for $500 on a credit card. I already had a $10 charge from somewhere else so when I got my statement it said I had to pay a extra for going over my limit. I called and found out my limit was reduced to $500. Dropped that card fast. And they don't care.

I guess my point was if you can pay it off every month why not just use cash? I don't see any advantages either way.

ummm FREE STUFF.....I get atleast $20 worth of gas free every month!!

My aunt and uncle do the samething with there Dsiney CC and they took there family to Disney World for FREE!!

    Advantage

Credit cards may also offer you additional protection if something you have bought is lost, damaged, or stolen.

Credit cards can make it easier to buy things.

If you don't like to carry large amounts of cash with you or if a company doesn't accept cash purchases (for example most airlines, hotels, and car rental agencies), putting purchases on a credit card can make buying things easier.

Didn't you guys just give your banks 700 billion dollars so there wouldn't be a credit crunch?

    Ummm... open revolt anyone??

    1. Many of those card companies give you free items for just using thier cards. For example a place called Cabella has a Visa card. The first time you use it you get $15 off anything in the place. Then as you use it you accumulate reward money that too can be used in their stores. Some give you free gas, free miscellaneous stuff, etc.
    2. If you ever do need a loan you can always use those credit/debit card reports for a credit check
    3. I don't think there is an auto rental place that will give you a car without a credit card.
    4. Usefull to buy things over the internet. Difficult to place cash or a check in those slots in your computer.
    5. Your wife can run up a fantastic bill prior to leaving you. And the more credit cards you have, the more fun she can have prior to leaving you.
    6. Credit/Debit cards were invented by women to punish men.

This is not new. American Express just offered thousands of their customers a free $300 to pay off their cards and close their accounts! What kind of advertising is that?

The thing I don't understand about these banks is, even with people not paying their bills, while the vast majority are...... How in the World can a place that offers 1% interest on money deposited there, but charges anywhere from 5% on up on mortgages and cars and 20%+ compounding interest plus fees on credit cards, and be going bankrupt?

The laws, the government, the entire deck stacked in their favor and these banks are failing. Just imagine how bad they'd be doing if the banking system was actually fair with consumers.
