Scopes pick up some light even in the dark, i think back in the 1700's the magnification was probably only like 2 or 3x maybe 4 but i doubt it was any higher then that, jmo
I hope they change the design completely and get rid of President Heads. Go back to Lady Liberty and Mercury.
I like it too. It would even better if they put a little silver back in it, that would brighten the night sky wouldn't it... My opinion only. Thanks for posting the new coin. Happy New Year.
Even a night crossing would show light from campfires, so a telescope would be useful. Besides, maybe it was a really bright night. LOL
Please tell me, is it my eyes, or did the designer make the illustration DD on Washingtons face in the obverse?
Not like they had a choice, that's in the law. As to @USS656 comment on the sword, it kind of looks like George stuck it out and hit the tip on the rim of the coin, slightly bending it.
I am okaaay with the design, like others have said I do not love it, or hate it. Glad for the change but as a Quality Control Manager that sword really bothers me. Come on, the designer should have done a much better job with such a important aspect of the scene. Your eye is drawn to it - pardon the pun - and it just looks wrong, even if I didn't already know what the original looked like. I will never be able to look at this coin in my hand and not think the mint botched it again when they were so close. A couple tweaks and I think most of the people that do not like some small aspect would have been much happier.
