A couple of weeks ago, I received another quarter from the Quarternotes Ltd mystery mailer - unlike the previous counter-stamped pieces, this one is an uncirculated 2020 W quarter (Vermont / Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park) with the 'V75' privy mark - a very nice coin that's worth a bit more than 25c
Funny you should mention that. I read your post yesterday, and then lo and behold, look what landed in my mailbox today! Got that right!
On eBay, they sell for $20-$35+, depending on condition and slab grade - 'only' two million of each 2020-W design will be distributed (10 million total)
Kudos to all of you lucky recipients. The thrill of a mystery is intriguing. I'm very curious to know, what is the significance of the counterstamps? I followed along with Forrest Fenn's hidden treasure chest because of the mystery. This 'who dunnit' is baffling as well. In conjunction to this mystery I just bought my grandson, 5 years old, a metal detector for Christmas/Hanukkah (his parents celebrate both). He loves going detecting with pop pop (me ). I figured he'd enjoy the thrill of the hunt with his own detector. The mystery you guys are all involved with is awesome. Enjoy!!!
In a previous letter, QN had listed the 'mintage' of each of the dozen or so counterstamped coin varieties - each 'design' was 'struck' a few hundred times, most under 500. I would guess they are comparatively rare and unknown to the general public - since they are modern clad coins, I doubt that they would fetch a great deal of money as compared to 19th century silver pieces - if the provenance and back story of the quarters was provided with the seller's description, they could spark some interest, but that would be a long shot.
No, I mean the "V75" counterstamps, not the QN ones. I should have referred to them as "privy marks", I suppose. The word "counterstamps" was already in my head for obvious reasons, though.
The way I understand it, only the West Point minted quarters of 2020 bear the V75 privy mark - some other numismatic items from the Mint will also have the privy marks - here is the article from the US Mint > https://www.usmint.gov/news/inside-the-mint/privy-marks-on-coins Post # 105 has the recent eBay prices paid for the V75s
Hello all, I have posted here with my previous finds, including a Michigan J frog counterstamped which is said to be one of the originals that first started this whole thing! I think some of you have major trust issues and not everything is too good to be true! After posting my original find I found in change, I have received 4/5 letters and coins/ sets from the Quartermaster himself. I also received the elongated coins that were discussed on page 4/5 here that he bought to give as gifts! I truly think that he is a kind angelic soul, spreading Joy a little at a time! Today I too received a V75 W Land Stewardship quarter and am very thankful for him putting a smile on faces in such hard times!

I wish I knew how to swap my address for yours. The fellow is a complete mystery. Each time I receive a letter and quarter I am left wondering how this fellow seems to know me and the address where me and my family reside. Not that I don't appreciate what the man does and I know he has helped some CT members quite generously, but I find myself just a tad bit uncomfortable when I receive his gifts.
This thread intrigued and entertained me. Randy, it's actually pretty easy to find a person's address when your user handle is your real name and we know what state you are in and your occupation! paddyman98 was probably easy to find as well because I know his full name from past postings and we all know he's in NYC. I don't think I've given up enough information in any of my postings or otherwise for someone to track me down. **hopes that QuarterMaster is in his lair thinking "challenge accepted"**
