what a weekend. Searched three boxes of halves. Found 1 90%, and 3 40%'s. I also found a 1986 D that has to be proof like. To my surprise I found a george washington dollar and a 1988 50p Dublin from Ireland. I guess the dollar made up for the lose from the dublin.

Really lousy luck with the nickels today. My usual $ 20 worth only yielded 1 keeper, and a marginal keeper at that:

    1953 D :(

Maybe I'll have better luck next time.

Picked up a 41 Walker, a 1988S proof and a 40% 69 in the last box of halves. Thrilled!

I went out and got 10 rolls of half dollars, 10 rolls of dimes and 10 rolls of pennies. Believe it or not I did much better with the pennies than anything else!

Two boxes of halves yielded one franklin, no silver Kennedys and one proof like 2004.

Nothing worthwhile with the dimes at all.

Got 5 wheaties in the pennies including 2 in one roll. The best one of the bunch was a 1927 in XF+. Its a nice one!

We'll see what happens next time. Wish me luck!

I decided to get 6 rolls of pennies today.

    Here's what I've found:

    1942
    1948
    1961-s x2
    1981 x6

    And a bunch of 60's 70's. :D

$50 in halves=0 This CBH person was like 10-20 mins infront of me buying them all up. I would really like to meet this CBH. I did find 1976 Chicago $2 star (G01143483) with 1/4 " tear on corner, but piece still there and 1976 $2 (G83070465A) still crisp with a weak center fold

the best coins i have ever found would probably be a 1962 dime and a 1998 wide am along with a 1917 wheat cent.

Someone spend Dad's or Granpa's proof sets?
Everyone needs a few like this great box. Congrats!

I just went through four boxes last night.
    1- 1971S
    1- 1963D
    4- 40%

Some upgrades for the album. I got some pristine specimens of low mintage years.

Rough but the way I figure it, if I mine this vein hard enough, I will get to some older stuff.
    Patience and Persistence

As long as the dumping is easy, I will continue.

Im wanting to search more and more but Im having trouble getting rid of the ones I dont want. I'd easily search through 2 boxes a day but nobody wants me dumping $1k in halves at their bank everyday.

Fortunately I have lots of dump bank locations that have big enough staff that even if I come every day, I get a different staff member to change bags in the machine.

Yesterday, I went to a branch where I know a young man whow grew up a few houses from me and is now a young man. I opened an account with him (wow finally!) and then he helped me dump 5000 halves. He said it was a record for bag changes (every 200 coins for halves) so 25 bags.

Since tuesday I have gone through 12 boxes, a record for me.

My luck has run out. I got at least 100 silver coins plus 3 proofs and lots of stuff for my two albums.

    2 Walkers, 7 Franklins, 25 1964 and the rest were 40%ers.

I also got two chrome and one gold plated halves, an english penny and was shorted a couple dollars.

OK, so in this last 12000 halves, since Tuesday, I got 1 Franklin, 2 40% and one proof. Several upgrades for my albums but that is it.

I am starting to think, that if I was in the business of rolling halves, and all of a sudden, I was delivering large quatities of halves to one branch very often, that it would be an expense that I would try to diminish.

I would keep a pallet of slugs and fenderwashers. The dirtiest, most beat up slotmachine/ mall fountain coins possible and start filling orders with them until my problem went away.

We will see. not ready to throw in the towel yet. I have just become very good at sorting and have the whole process, banks, branches and people all stoked to support the searching.

I mean, the coins in the last 12,000 were very scratched and worn. At least a third had lost all reeding long ago. Do slot machines do that to coins? Live in a gaming state only not the one you normally think of.

Below normal number of 1997+ years.

Hands are dirty from metal dust and dirt after sorting.

Just went through 3 boxes of halves and no silver, a couple no FG's, and 2 mint set only coins. :( If the last box has none, I'm done with boxes of these.

Went through a box of cents for the first time in a while. Only found 4 wheats through 40 rolls, but then I found 7 in the last 10 rolls so it evened out. Oldest was a 1937. Also found a pair of 39's.

Box of nickels yielded 30 pre1960 including a 1939. Also got a few from the sixties for my set.

Yesterday I went to Bank of America and got 5 rolls of nickels. They put their coins in the sausage rolls. Well the only thing I found was a 1948 nickel in vg. Is it even worth keeping?
