gee I do my best with what I have and I still have gripes about my photos, unlike you, all who have photo cameras and such I got an old c525 Logitech webcam which isn't going to be the best at close up photos and I don't have a fancy lighting setup either I have an old LED lamp i'll just spend the coin and call it PMD
that is why I'm asking for opinions to make sure cause to me it does look PMD but could look like something else to another person, I'm wanting to make sure my judgment is correct on this as errors are not my cup of tea so to speak
It appears the coin took an extremely hard hit to its edge thereby cleaving a portion of the rim and pushing it toward the center of the coin. Is this a satisfactory answer?
I am not to sure. I think it is a peeling lamination. The tool marks that are seen was probably someone trying to remove the chunk.
not sure about this coin it's a puzzle as I have never seen anything quite that odd-looking, I'm trying to see what others think of the coin either PMD or some sort of error cause I'm not 100% sure on my judgement as I said errors are not my cup of tea so far I have maybe PMD or an error all I'm trying to figure is which it is or isn't
I've seen this effect before, and I believe, based on the photos, that the rim/edge has been sliced; ie; damaged. There is a possibility, as stated by others above, that it's a rim lamination flap; can't tell for sure from the photos. A close up of the 2nd photo would be helpful. The two closeups below it don't have the right lighting 'surface texture' to tell for sure.
