I have to agree, but I am far from an expert on early modern proofs. Also, look at the OD of GOD, is that strike doubling? Interesting.
I see what you're talking about, treashunt... this is indeed a very interesting coin... proofs aren't supposed to have mistakes
I don't know. There is some weakness to the digits to the date, flatness to the surface (no satin finish, or mirror surface.) Also, there is no wire rim. The proofs, even for this period should be much stronger strikes. ???????
I love the poster but I hate these coins. Washington Quarters look so flat. Its a bald eagle because they have no feathers. Ruben
Be still my quaking heart! Doug & I agreed twice in ONE DAY! Beware: the end of the world is at hand! Quick-- Get the digitalis!
I agree with you. You're the one who has it in hand, so I'm sure that you can tell if it is a proof a lot easier than we can.
I have seen many different polished quarters and this one is not polished. It probably has been cleaned but it is different than any buisness strike coin I have ever seen. The good thing is that I can give it back. I took it in on consignment. Tom
