Well do we or don't we love the U.S. Mint ????

The Mint seems to have a few problems now, from the TRACK ORDER thingy not working to UPS drivers leaving GOLD on door steps, not to mention the UHR's.

My grandpa always said "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

:loud: HEY MOY EVER HEARD OF THAT ????

I have 2 problems with the Mint. First, while the tracking order doesn't work, they sent me an e-mail with the tracking numbers in it. They failed to tell me what companies the tracking numbers were associated with.

Also, the Lincoln Comm. ship date is always being flip-flopped, which i find very annoying

I think they do have some problems.

Last year I got email saying that my order was shipped but I had already received the package the other day!!

I also wish the mint would ship the coin registered mail!!
I have had problems with DHL leaving package by my door and that was when I was living in a apartment building!!

The quality of their coins sucked last year and their website is really annoying. :(

I have no problem with the mint. I'm not anal retentive so I could care less about tracking my order. It gets here when it gets here. Several companies that I order from leave packages on my front step of a variety of values. So far, I'm fortunate in that none of them said "GOLD" on the outside ...lol.

There are a vareity of mint haters on this forum but really all of these complaints can be applied to just about most online shopping companies. I mean I order from Amazon, they are notoriously slow, send incorrect and "your shipment is delayed" e-mails and leave boxes on my front door but ..it's all part of doing business.

I guess some folk are just never satisfied.

The mint is a manufacturing facility - that they do very well!!
Now they are also a coin company - that, they don't do very well!!
It's like most any Govt. agency's - too many people think they know what's right. Look I worked for a Govt. agency for 30 years, their nuts.
They slither around in meetings and create committees, (now there is a real evil for you) and say this and state that and it's all a bunch of stuff designed to sell themselves to the common U.S. citizen but they do not know how to run a business - they don't have to - when you are constantly propped up by and assisted by all the built in gravy jobs you don't have to listen to john cue public. Oh they say they are but they don't - if they did they would turn the selling of products over to a company that does only that, sells and delivers products - when they finally figure that out they will be a success.

With all the negative feedback and opinions, I wonder why anyone would choose to business with such a poorly run organization?

I think for the volume of production and shipments the mint does each year, they do pretty well. Every time I've ordered, it has come as expected when expected. I was hoping they would cut down on some of the novelty sets and collectables, and it looks as though they are going to. As of now, I can't complain.

Try plugging the numbers into this Bonas:

    http://fedex.com/us/pckgenvlp/track/index.html

    http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/...US&Requester=UPSHome&trackNums=&track.x=Track

One o' these sites has to make something pop....:)

    I don't.
Last thing I bought from the Mint was a 1984 proof set.
    That's 25 years ago.

The US-mint with its vast array of products aimed at the collector is driving this hobby down the same path that stamps and sports cards have already travelled. All IMHO...Mike

    I strongly agree.
That's why 95% of my stamp and coin purchases are 19th century items.

I have ordered several time a year for the last few years and I've never really been dissatisfied. Until the UHRDE. All I ask is a straight story. Don't get me wrong, i'm glad I ordered one. Origional price and I hope I get it soon. It just seem's that they don't care about the little guy. Kinda like the economic stimulus. Oh yeah, that's the govt. too!

I agree. They stopped being a national mint and went retail. Perhaps they see the writing on the wall when all commerce goes electronic and want to have something to fall back on.
