I adore Ikes (they grow on people). The 64 and 66 cents are special as they were collected in the 60s and they have nice colors as toning on them, the 2008 P is Satin Finish. The Silver and the Proof Cent are really sweet to have and of course, I absolutely love the 2019 Eagle.

    Again, thank you Santas.

USPS decided I was finally next in the queue.

    Thank you SS

Not sure how long I'll be able to hold out on the waiting game. You folks will be the first to know though ;)

Gift arrived today. Will open on Christmas. I especially enjoy the assortment of stamps as a back-sliding philatelist.

Well, one thing about being in USPS limbo---I don't have to stress out over whether or not to open early. :)

Wow, I could barely hold off for 6 hrs.

I got a very cool Lincoln cent off center strike. I'd say it's a 95% off center. My only one.

    Thank you SS! Merry Christmas!

I failed miserably, just couldn't wait. More than likely it's because of my 6 IMG_20201221_231024037_HDR.jpg th day of quarantine and equal number of Budweiser. My SS gifted me a 2001 Silver proof set including my state quarter (Kentucky). Also a 1955 PF 65 red cent that's acquiring some beautiful blue toning in an old ANACS soap box holder. Couldn't get a decent pick of the cent, but an outside of the box for the proof set. Thank you secret santa for the very thoughtful and generous gift as well as the equally thoughtful card. This was my first year doing secret santa and I am amazed at the time a stranger put in to gifting an amazing set of coins.

I got my gift today. Came home from work and there it is. Yup I opened it. A nice card, 2 snack bars yummy, 4 coins, Austria 1908 Korona, Mexico 1920 50 centavos, New Zealand 1943 1/2 crown, 1779 HOLLANDIA Netherlands 2 stuivers. (my favorite coin of the 4)
My secret santa knew I was into world coins. Thank you so much secret santa. I liked them all. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Sorry my flip phone takes crappy pics...

Okay, so I couldn't wait and opened Santa's gift upon arrival. I'm really glad I did because I've been able to do a LOT of reading and research with the book that Santa sent.

    20201210_153814.jpg

Because of that research, I was able to identify a really cool cherry pick on Ebay when I saw it. The coin below is listed on page #225 of the book Santa gave me. It's a Great Britain silver center Model Penny, minted as a test pattern piece between 1844 and 1848. I knew the US experimented with silver center cents, but had no idea the idea was floated in England as well.

As a pattern coin, this undated bi-metallic penny was made with copper centers, copper plated white metal centers, and silver, with the silver being the most desirable. Enough of these patterns were made and released for circulation that most of them are fairly worn or have environmental damage issues. This one is fantastic, and I owe my knowledge of it to Santa.

Take a look at the incredible die break on the reverse of this one.

    Thanks again Santa!

I don't have it yet, but with the speed the Post Office is delivering packages, I may not live long enough to show it after it arrives.

    Enjoy.

    Z
