Cool animals I have always loved Owls, My uncle has a barred owl living in an old tree right off the right of way into his property. We hear him all the time, and I have seen him a few times fly in front of my truck when heading home.

Three different animals for the price of one. Four if you count the steer head. Prancing zebras are cool in my book.

Odd how almost every one of those I've seen have that very dark tone. Mine included.

    How about a winged lion.

Or would you prefer a winged elephant?

Definitely some cool animals there! What can I add? South Africa, 1974 2 cents. Woody. Gnu/wilde beast. Possibly I used and spent this coin, as I was in South Africa for a month or so in 1974-1975. 1974 ZA 2 c obv (2).JPG 1974 ZA 2 c rev (2).JPG

Awesome. What kind of token is it? I did a little bit of a web search on it but came up empty. Now I want one but have a hunch it will be out of reach.

Generically, it is a shop token from Baden-Karisruhe. Circa 1918. The reference that the seller had on it was Menzel 12699.2

That's basically everything I know about it. The price probably won't be the problem with purchasing one. Just finding one will. I have seen 2 of them, from the same seller, and bought them both. I had them for a grand total of about a week and mistakenly showed them to a friend that collects stuff with Elephants. He made me a crazy offer for 1 of them. I do still have the one pictured.

Some things are just hard to find. I already had the two apothecary weights shown below and was quite happy to win an auction online for one more, a 1/2 drachm. Alas, it got lost in the mail. That was 2 years ago and I have yet to find another one. ND H.T.Phila 1 d obv.JPG ND H.T.Phila 1 d rev.JPG ND H.T.Phila 2 d obv.JPG ND H.T.Phila 2 d rev.JPG

Let's change the theme to Countermarked coins. I don't remember us doing that before.

I reckon this strawberry picker's token is the only counter marked coin I have. It dates from about the 1920's, and does not mean Confederate States of America. Something like Carthage Strawberry (growers) Association. CSA token obv.JPG CSA token rev.JPG

A few more. I don't actively look for counter marked coins, just happened to find them on coins that I like.
