If you think it will upgrade then I would try it . Especially if you already underpaid for what you have. I do love those old green holders though
My inclination is to clean and polish the holder and should the result be not satisfactory to you, pack and ship.
That 66 must have been a typo on my part LOL The obverse looks more PL in the slab photos. I would like to see the photos if you decide to clean the slab up.
I was to late but I too would have a bit of reluctance to grade because of the reverse eye appeal. Lucky you 64 is pretty awesome.
I guessed a 65 before I got to the post and yea the reverse pic sucks but their was no way that reverse had any wear seeing the front.I agree undergraded can't vouch for the PL because of the slab but good luck on the up graded if you go down that road.
That is if some no-nothing poster can’t cherry-pick coins, and thinks they know Morgans better than someone who has owned thousands of the series.
@Morgandude11 I'm sorry I missed this. But I would have guessed 65 on it. I have no doubts about it being PL. That was one thing I noticed is the lack of cartwheel luster in the fields. I think you made a great buy in my opinion! I am a fan of the older holders as well. You might be able to take it into a local jeweler and have them use the steam tool on it to get all the gunk off of it. Then polish it up. I can't remember if you are CAC guy or not, but I think it would be a great candidate for them. It looks clean enough that it might get a gold.
Thank you, I appreciate it. Your response was refreshing, amidst all of the hostile comments. I am going to get the holder curated, as I think it is a 65, but like OGHs a lot. CAC makes more sense, actually. I appreciate your advice,as an experienced collector.
It seems that all the hostile responses are from members I don't recognize. Most of them have signed up since I took my ~18 month hiatus from here. I've learned to look past all the gunk on holders and what not. It really can serve as a great way to cherrypick nice coins. Holders can be cleaned up, coins can't...
Hey MorganDude...I believe you posted your share of "hostile comments." However, your hissy fit made this post fun to read. So, thank you for that.
Typical meteorologist. “Is it raining?” Answer: “I dunno, I didn’t look at the GFS and the Euro.” Well, open the window, and look.
