    09 cat. of world coins 1901-2000 w/CD $60
    Cherrypickers 4th ed. Vol2 $40
Almost missed using this coupon and had to drive in the blizzard! Totally worth it.
$100 total - 40% borders rewards = $60. So its like I got cherrypickers for free. If you are on the W coast use this coupon at borders before tonight ends. 159041020000000001

    What's on the CD?

    What's cherrypicking?

Cherrypicking is knowing a coins grade/varieties better than the seller in order to buy coins not priced correctly. This book is on half dime through dollar varieties I believe. The CD has (now that I look, it's a DVD rom) is like the book, but more compact :) and bigger pics of the coins.

I am mesmerized at the amount of errors people spot, catalog, and pay money for in the US. I'm not surprised it takes a whole book just for that. Personally, I don't see myself becoming interested in error coins or far fetched varieties. Back in Portugal, several dozens of errors were catalog in the equivalent to the red book, but they were almost exclusively what we called "vertical axis" (I don't know if you have that expression or error here).

Is it possible to get the DVD only? These will eventually replace the books altogether, don't you think?

    - I think there will always be a market for books as long as there are bathrooms, but I see your point. Sony makes a device that looks like a small book, but stores many books in it. I wouldn't want to take it in the bathroom though because of all the water.
-IDK what the axis thing you are talking about is, but would be interested to find out.
-I tried to obtain the dvd only by going to the library, but am not allowed to check out refrence books. So, I brought my laptop in to burn a copy. They didn't like that very much. IDK if DVD is available by itself. Maybe try your library.

    - If you're talking about books in general, I agree, they will never go away.
    - With most (at least) portuguese coins, when you flip it, it looks upside down. With a vertical axis, it looks straight. Some other coins have 90º axis too. Do you know what I mean? I don't think I was very clear in my description.
    - I have a copy of the big catalog. One for 20th and one for 19th century, but they're like 4 or 5 years old. I want them mostly for reference, not prices. Would you say the prices in these world coins catalogs are a bit low compared with what a buyer has to pay for them?

I see now-Axis = rotation : Medallic rotation is when both sides have the same up. Canadian coins have this type of rotation as well.

I'm not sure of catalog prices VS prices paid as I only use them as a refrence. The one I have before this refrence is 1988, so never had the chance to check. I would assume prices would be off at least by a year.

Thank you for supporting my Borders stock. =P

The coupon, is it valid for total purchase or off of 1 item as usual? I know i got one in my email but didnt open it. Seems like I can count on a coupon every other day or so.

Thats one way of looking at it but I prefer to think of it as looking for items that sellers don't want to be bothered looking for which might have premium value. It might not even be something of more value, just something interesting that isn't perhaps obvious, like a specific die crack, variety etc.

I like to cherry pick Talon Head Ikes and FEV Ikes for example. The FEVs have some value, the Talon heads generally don't.

    See this for example

I'll take 10% of your profits and give you back 4% deal?

My girlfriend used it, then I asked the cashier if I could use it and she said no. I told her I didn't want the book then, so she let me use it. :)

Good point! I think I'm getting too involved with thinking about the money side of things. I need to do some roll searching.:hail:
