A fair price for a complete set of state quarters

Just wanted to find if anyone here had a handle on what they thought a fair price would be for a complete set of proof (or simply uncirculated for that matter) state quarters. I know there are the two mint sets as well. Any help would be appreciated.

proofs and silver proofs will add a lot to that.

The current value in the Blue Book is $133 for 99-07, the 08 had an issue price of $13.95, for the proofs (non-silver). What I've been seeing on ebay is closer to Red Book prices, but I'm looking for silver proofs. I don't know if it's fair but it's a starting point.

If you have a complete set like I have, Dansco albums 8143 & 8144, which include all the proofs, They are going for around $600. to $700. Actually the only set worth money is the 1999 Silver proof set..The rest are not worth alot. Hope this helps.

Many of those prices are shilled and quite unrealistic.

FWIW, I've got $241.18 in my 2000-2008 silver proof sets. I don't have the 99 yet.

That's all with boxes and COAs (except the 01), the 2000 set included the silver proof set w/penny, nickel, etc.., getting the 01 set dirt cheap and probably over-paying a little buying the 08 set directly from the mint. The rest from ebay and shows.

I also put a standard, but nice circulated set in an album, mostly from circulation, and leave it out on display. Uncirculated examples from dealers typically sell anywhere from 0.75 to 2.00 a coin if you want to go that route. At 50 coins, you're looking at about 75 bucks to get it done.

But I must say, there are still a lot of nice examples in circulation, that aren't much worse or almost equivalent to the ones you'll pay 0.75- 2.00 for. I found all the nice ones I could first, and ended up buying a few that never seem to show up around here.

    # of coins X .25 = Fair value.

    (had to say that.)

    You knew it was coming.
