You're not paying for the water. You're paying for the water treatment, the network of pipes that bring it to you, and the maintenance of the pipes and water treatment plant. All the labor and materials involved costs money. I've put miles of water mains and services to homes in the ground, should I have done it for free so your majesty could have free water? The free water is in the river, grab a bucket and have at it.
Interesting...is there any reasoning behind it? https://www.bobvila.com/articles/is...rainwater,State Water Resources Control Board.
Me too. And if it quits and I’m desperate a bucket will get it. I had that problem when I first lived here the main line froze. So my water was buckets and heat on the woodstove for a couple months
K, just remember everything that goes into running a water department, someone has to pay for it, and who better than the people using it based on the amount they use?
I really don't remember the reason. Possibly the semi arid climate and potential for droughts. Maybe an agreement between the farmers and the state. Or could have been due to the mining practices. Not really sure. I fill 50 gallon drums to water my garden.
And hopefully they are being charged a rate that will handle all current and future costs. Here where I live the water company is owned by the city and for decades the politicians kept the water rate very low to look good to the voters. Problem was the low rates didn't allow enough for proper maintenance or replacement of the treatment plant when it could no longer be patched up (patch upon patch upon patch etc) So the treatment plant finally broke down and there was no money set aside to replace it. Had to do major borrowing and the water rates quintupled to pay it off.
I HAVE AN kennedy half graded ms-70, ( paid 40.00 for it) and it has a slight scratch on face, as well as a rim damage nick, you know the 3 dots?? lol so wtf?? is right??
Hey, John. Careful with the "WT(letter F)". Even THAT can get your post deleted here. Trust me on that one!
That is why i believe (unpopular opinion) that management that can actually run a water system and prevent that kind of thing from happening deserve high salaries and fat bonuses.
If there is one thing grading services were formed for, is non-profit. They were founded because the Federal government allowed coins to be used to fund IRA's. The stipulation was that coins and bullion were required to be graded by an independent third party. So the coin industry provided the answer: grading. Grading companies made profit, the dealers that helped fund the IRA's made money, and the rest of us went along with the whole concept. Sooo, no, no non profit status for slabbing companies. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a hopeful New Year to all. Be safe and be careful.
