Nice inserts. Did you make those? Are these self slabbed? All mine are still in flips. I’d like to get every thing in holders that fit PCGS boxes.

    Robec,

You can get "self slabs" for just about everything up to and including 60mm medals. It takes some shopping and waiting, but I even got self slabs for these.

They fit in the boxes longways and sideways. Their width is the same as a normal slabs height, so there's one option. Sorry about the crappy photos.

How did you make the labels? Those look very well made.

I just laid them out in an Excel spreadsheet. Copy and paste images from the webs, use a clear text box overlay.

Excel allows you to size the cells in inch format. I measure the recesses in the coin holder and size to fit. You don't need to buy any of those Avery presized labels, it's next to impossible to get them lined up.

I just print to a full sheet self stick label, and use a flat bed paper cutter to cut out the rows. I cut the individual labels out of each row with scissors. Pretty easy all in all.

I have a color laser printer at home and at work, so they come out really nice looking and won't smear.

    Hope that helps.

Here is a size comparison between the super size slabs and normal size slabs.

The one in the upper left is a normal 30mm medal. The upper right (can't see with the glare) is a 46mm medal. I am waiting on a 60mm medal that I ordered from Portugal to come in. I have a 60mm slab to fit it as well.

    This one is a bit of a "sleeper" . . . . . . a Daniel Carr sleeper.

A 2011 Royal Canadian Numismatic Association convention medal, minted by Daniel Carr. It's feature about half way down this page.

And I was extremely fortunate to have been able to pick up this one as well. It is by far my lowest mintage Daniel Carr piece.

At only 14 pieces minted, here is my newest acquisition in antiqued brass.

Daniel Carr has really perfected his Antiqued Brass finish and it really shows in this piece.

  16. It says “Out of stock” and mintage is noted as 39 “so far” in his catalog. I’m thinking another run before the end of the month. Stay tuned...

I did note on an alternate cyberverse, given that these are stamped "DEC 2020", I'm guessing it has a hard end date in a week and a half, unless there will be monthly issues through 2021?

    JAN 2021, FEB 2021, MAR 2021 . . . . . .

That would play well into the "13 Steps" theme now, wouldn't it?

    13 Steps

I wanted to take a quick second to get a couple photos taken and uploaded. Not my usual setup, that will need to wait until early next week.

I just wanted to note, both of these feel really substantial in the hand. At 1.5 ounces, their heft is that of coins twice their diameter. The relief and finish of these pieces give a lot of visual depth to Escher's staircase. The square planchet compliments the die engraving well.
