Don't specialize in anything now, used to be a lot. US coins of course, pretty much across the board. Spanish colonial, French coinage & Low Countries coinage, in particular gold, with an emphasis on the Middle Ages.
Mine are Liberty Capped Cents, Draped Bust Cents, Colonial coinage, and early English farthing & half-penny trade tokens. I love the early English trade tokens because there are thousands of them, with no way I can ever complete a collection, so they will keep me busy when my other areas aren't doing so good. Ribbit
Don't know if I'd call it a "specialty" but I am addicted to U.S. Two Cent Pieces. Business strikes. It's great that some really specialize as collectors. Having collected a lot of different U.S. over the years I've picked up a smattering of knowledge on many series as well as small size U.S. paper money. This comes in real handy at the shop.
Yeh, I'm not sure I would say I have a specialty, but I wish I could say Lincolns. But the truth is.. I know more about Canadian Copper then i do about Lincolns.. Still learning on both sets though.
Now that I have finished my book on fractional Cali gold from the post '29 Depression Era, I will start an in depth examination into Seated and Bust Buffalo coinage from the 1945-1950 era, special emphasis will be placed on die mariages and repunched mintmarks of the Dahlanega and Charlotte silver coinage of 1947.......
I guess lincolns just because I have more of those than anything else. I still have a LONG way to go before I can say I specialize in them.
I just saw your post now silver I like the rainbow toned ones too, but my favorite are the blast white Morgans. -Mike
I collect 16th to 18th century Austria-Hungary, Germany and England. For Austria-Hungary I collect the 1/4Talers, 1/2Talers and Talers. For Germany I collect Bavarian Talers and Prussian Talers. English coinage I just got into this year, and I like the 1/2 Crown pieces, and the small six pence.
