I received these from @Penny Luster (thank you!) and I thought they were absolutely beautiful. Are they worth having graded or no? Obverse 1: Reverse 1: Obverse 2: Reverse 2:
I would keep them as they are and put the grading fees you save into more coins for your growing collection, IMO
They are def nice nickels but would not be worth the $$$ in grading fees. Good to look at and put in an album but don't get them graded.
They are wonderful looking Jefferson's and many thanks to @Penny Luster for sending them to you. I would live them as is because I think the fees would not be recovered by you.
I think it's up to you whether you want to get them graded by a TPGS or not - I usually don't but felt like doing it with my Standing Liberty Quarters, so I sent some in and I'll send the rest in next year. I wouldn't do it with an eye to increasing the value, given the costs involved and they are obviously lovely coins. How do you take such nice photos?
I also have perfect lighting in my room... LED lights hung up (I keep them on white) and then my ceiling fan has a yellowish light that mixes with the white.
Your photos are very very good. Here is my upgraded 1964 Jefferson for comparison. Remember it is a proof not an MS. I think y ou are a pretty good grader too.
I think they are probably proofs, and after slabbing (for around $30 each) will be worth $2 each. I that is worth it to you, go ahead.
If someday you have 12 coins you want graded, ANACS has a special 12 for $119 until some time in January. They run this special ALL the time so save up if you want to do it. That's just $10 per coin. Tell your friends.
Very nice coins and I'd keep them if I had them. Sending them in to get graded is pretty expensive from what I've been reading on this forum.
