Indian Commemorative Coin-What's it worth?

I strongly disagree.
The India Government mint did issued this coin and the coin is certainly not a token coz it had a monetary value. Here is a proof
Calcutta Mint
The mint's website lists it as a coin produced not meant for general circulation. The monetary value is given as Rs.2.
Now if it were a token or medal; it would have been listed in the medal section. Also the government never made its monetary denomination illegal, so the coin is a valid legal tender.

you can disagree all you want but the coin was never released for circulation even KM says so. call the calcutta mint and ask the mint master if the coin was ever handed out from their offices. The government cannot make a coin illegal if it has never been released into circulation, so your argument does not hold.

i understand your point but as much as i want it to be a coin it is not one. why? the govt never issued it. coinage act of 1906

 

i am already on gold coins if u do meet the hon minister tell him that some people are taking his coins to heart

i would agree with that... my simple reason is... if you try to buy something with that coin, will it be accepted? probably yes... so that makes a legal tender

but i dont think i will be getting that coin for 600$

and lastly rules in india are often antiquated

 

mumba in india u can buy things with milk,rice etc as well. are those coins? u can buy things with gold and silver (tokens) which banks like to call coins. if kidromeo strikes coins in his house and people accept it does it become part of republic of india coinage and before u laugh there are people in UP who actually do that and it is accepted.

consider the facts
no mint ever issued the coin
circulating coin with a total distribution of 500
given only to people who attended an event
coin never monetized
coin never issued for circulation
coin never sold to collectors

laws are different from rules a coin doesnt become a coin till it is monetized and that is true the world over except at least people in the us understand that concept. if someone robs the dies from the mint and starts producing coins do they become valid coins no because they are not monetized same as the pic in my avatar buts that another story .
