I was going through an old album today and found a bronze/copper Russian 5 kopek coin. Bigger than our large cents. date is 1805. I would guess VF30-ish. Can't post pictures yet because I am not set up to do so. Can anyone tell me the approximate value? I got it at a Russian flea market back in the 90s.

Numista has listings for two different mints in 1805:
    Ekaterinburg (EM) and
    Suzun (KM)
I guess the two big questions are: What condition is it in? and is it authentic?
There are unfortunately lots of fakes of Russian coins so it's hard to even guess without taking a look. My 1995 Krause Guide has them at $10 VG to $80 XF for EM and $12.50 VG to $100 XF for KM mint. 1805 doesn't look to be a scarce year, so prices are similar for other years of the type. Modern prices are probably quite a bit higher (if authentic, of course), especially in the higher grades.

Mine is from the Ekaterinburg mint. I picked it up for no more than$5 during the fall of the Soviet Union. (I used to be a Russian interpreter). Thanks for the quick response!

It really depends on the variety. Some are known for mules and values vastly differ.

Over the past 20 years, the prices of these coins have increased. I have never seen them cheaper than $ 60. And this is the minimum price. And there is another problem: the export of such coins outside the Russian Federation is a criminal offense. We have very strict legislation. Now such coins are exported from Russia only by smugglers. Of course, the risk increases the price.

I have been purchasing these for about $15-$20 in VG. Can be found with nice surfaces in XF $30-$40
